Is My Campaign Going Too Fast?

With DH, my main concern would be are the players getting the time to explore their characters fully (both mechanically and narratively) and is a satisfying narrative taking place... if so you should be good. I'm running a DH campaign right now and we've been at level 1 for the past 6...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

For the record I have a 6 player group as well... I've noticed this and it helps but there are alot of abilities that don't need 3 hope and I also feel like I'm struggling to meaningfully set conflict for every player in the group... It feels like either I'm ganging up on some and others aren't...

D'ope. Thank you I'm not sure how I missed that... that is exactly what I was looking for. This is one of the reasons I love general discussions like this. I'm new to DH and I'm really trying to get it right. One of the things I wonder though is whether this is affected by the number of...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

I'm torn on this one as while I like the applications of hope and fear I'm not sure I'm much of a fan of how hope and fear is acquired/generated...mainly through random process with a slight favoring towards PC's gaining hope. For a narrative game it can sometimes create wildly non-narrative...

OK maybe tactical wasn't the right word but there's something about DH combat that feels more loosey goosey... even when we use measurements or a grid while 5e feels more concrete... not sure im explainng it well. One thing my group bounced off hard on was not having initiative. I had to...

I wasn't saying it was right or wrong... I was moreso questioning why people would expect a totally different paradigm for an AP given what we've gotten so far.

Im curious...Do you think DH does tactical combat as well as 5e? For our group at least it doesn't feel like its scratching that particular itch as well as 5e...though for cinematic-esque combat i think DH works better.

I honestly think CR vastly underestimated the demand for DH (understandably) due to CO kind of flopping. Thats why I'd love to see some actual numbers. The statements about it selling faster than expected are great but I really want to know what their initial print run was.

I think DH is slightly more complex at low level vs. 5e... about equal or a little less at mid and much simpler at high levels compared to 5e One thing I think that DH has is very few if any assign and forget abilities...which means the players have to keep in mind what they can do in order to...

This is an interesting take... why do you think it falls light trad vs. light narrative? When I think light trad with narrative tools the first game that pops in my head is 13th Age while DH seems to lean much more into the narrative space, its one of the reasons I like it more than 13th Age...

What's your problem... seriously. Im discussing a game and my experiences with it as a counterpoint to an argument put forth by another poster.. its called discussion. You come in all aggressive, attribute a stance to me I didn't take and now you come at me with more aggression because... I...

But powers can change, help or hinder various actions as can class abilities... Edit: Isnt this the same for 5e... 1d20 + skill mod?

I wasnt the one insinuating DnD stunts one's ability to improv, it was the insinuation I got and was arguing against in @Neonchameleon earlier post. Not sure how you arrived at that being my stance... Yes you can ask soft questions and I can use my own ideas...no one's arguing against that...

Very little of the crunch in 5e, especially at 1st level has to be player facing. 5e runs perfectly fine with the DM being the interface and arbitrator for most of, if not all of, the rules. If the only improv you're having players do is asking... "What do you do?" and/or answering connection...

Disagree... I think for shy or reserved new players(and yes I've seen this first hand) the demand of instant improv and being put on the spot is uncomfortable and at times a deterrent which can actually lead to them feeling rpg's aren't for them. Im not sure where the idea that everyone...
