if you notice, the bottom of his glass had salt in it. the water has a saturation point where salt will no longer dissolve. you probably need to add more until you reach that point. im not 100% sure of this, but he said "a lot of salt." you might also try a smaller glass

    Sage Advice (18 May 2015)

as long as you have a hand free, yes. it allows an extra attack without turning into a totally unbelievable dual-wielding Diablo demon hunter.

    D&D 5E Dragon Player Characters

fair enough. that said, if this is intended to be some side-shoot of a dragon that doesnt have the stats from the MM, saying that the class is "past wyrmling" is inaccurate. i was using that stat-block as a measuring stick. according to everyone who replied to me, i should not. i retract my...

    D&D 5E Dragon Player Characters

that may have been a poor choice of words then. i was trying for "this racial class needs to be on par with a typical dragon of its type." while it should not be an Ancient at first level, it should be at least equal to wyrmling. Ancient comes at 18-20 range. :)

    D&D 5E Dragon Player Characters

Well, while this is a solid effort, it doesnt follow the given rules laid out in the monster manual. If we are making a dragon PC, let's do it right. It needs to follow the listed stats for dragons, which is why this would probably be too powerful for conventional parties. In a council of wyrms...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Modifying Classes & Spell-less Rangers

a couple of problems with the "spell-less Ranger": if you are going to replace spells with abilities, be careful to implement those abilities at the same times they would get them as a spell-casting variant. for example, the level 9 ability to enable a poultice to cure a poison effect is quite...

D&D 5E Are DMs getting lazy?

not lazy in so many words, but the recent editions of D&D *cough* 4th *cough* everything was spelled out for you. X monsters are Y a challenge rating, and drop Z parcels of treasure. in 1st and 2nd, none of that was there. the game was largely left in the hands of the DM, and ours was a baptism...

The Second PRINCES OF THE APOCALYPSE Review

that's pretty cool, actually. wish my dad had done that. honestly though, if you are doing this on a regular basis, you probably need to invest in the 3 main books. they are a wealth of knowledge and are very nicely compiled and illustrated. if you are a veteran gamer, you could probably...

D&D 5E Converting mines of phandelver for 7 players *Spoilers*

i ran through it with 5. they more or less steamrolled the goblin caves. you can increase the difficulty or harass the characters if you play the mobs cleverly. feel free to max out the monster hitpoints, maybe add a couple extra goblins on the bridge to pepper the characters with arrows if they...

    D&D 4E 5E Through a 4E Lens

true enough, and i did play 4E for several years. there were other issues with it, some good and bad. long story short, i didnt like it enough to keep playing once 5E came out. one of my group misses 4E very much, but for the most part all are happy to be playing 5th. it was slow, too mechanical...

    D&D 4E 5E Through a 4E Lens

being an old school gamer, i started at the late stages of 1st edition in the mid-1980s and have been playing ever since. i understand that 4E powers are just barebones mechanics of those old-edition spells. i love what 4E did to make casters viable beyond "i cast 2 spells, then i am done for...
