    What's with the Gnome Hate?

So really you don't like the fluff of the Dragonborn and Eladrin. For me it was Dragonborn and Tiefling. I turned Dragonborn into a hidden race, unknown to the world, and tiefling into one of the underdark races, as feared as the drow. Everything works out nicely.

    Containing strike!

Okay so I'm sure this has already been pointed out, but I couldn't find it, so here it is: Everyone knows there's an error in the PHB that points fighter characters to an at-will power called containing strike, which was later cut, right? Well if you look on page 50 in the MM, theres a human...

    Fighter damage dealing potential...

But not optimized. The ranger won't get it because he can't use his powers with it. He can use two other vorpal weapons, with less effect. The fighter will get the most out of this, as will the paladin.

    Fighter damage dealing potential...

I was glancing through the book and it occurred to me that an epic tier fighter has a huge potential for damage through equipment... Combine a +6 vorpal falchion with the gauntlets of destruction... You deal a base 2d4 damage, rerolling ones. That means theres a one in three chance to deal...

    Two handed damage

There's a feat that gets your damage for 2h weapons up for fighters, plus you get to use arm gear (either damage increase or damage reduction). Really, we'll have to wait for more rules. I hope they do something similar to what they did for the illusionist wizard for the fighter ! A few more...

    Dewl barsturd swordz yo!

Why would you make this post if you don't care what people have to say about it... I for one think disallowing someone to play a way they enjoy over a issue of realism, especially in a dnd game, is kind of petty.

D&D 4E Tell me about your 4e combats (and 2h weapons)

You don't have to use a greatsword. I'd check out glaives, halberds, falchions and mauls. All have good damage output and little tricks to bring them up. Falchions still ge the best attack bonus and high crit. They also benefit from higher level gear and powers, plus you can get away with...

D&D 4E Tell me about your 4e combats (and 2h weapons)

I've done alot of looking at 2handers... here's what I've found (basic stuff). There's a bunch more for specific weapons but meh: Potent Challenge: tacks on con damage to your basic attack, which is what opportunity attacks are. nice since fighters get wis mod as a bonus to them. Gauntlets...

    D&D 4E w00t! My First DnD 4e Character!

I like the flavor and feel of falchion more. It only damages about .5 less on average, and it has the benefit of High Crit. Plus, with the magic gloves that let you re-roll all 1s on damage rolls, it'll have a nice boost (and make it easier for a vorpal weapon to get its bonus. 1 in 3 is better...

    Two handed weapons... *spoliers*

The problem is that there are feats and powers to make using a shield better, and that there is nothing for two-handed weapons (power attack isn't *that* beneficial) And it sucks that two-handing a falchion is worse than two-handing a longsword. Seriously sucks.

-nevermind, I've found it. each character begins the game with 100gp

    Two handed weapons... *spoliers*

Ya, I love how using a one-handed weapon two handed immediately puts it on par with its proper two-handed counterparts...

    Two handed weapons... *spoliers*

Another good eye! And you're right Sashi - the AC and Refl boost missing out is capped at 3 now, since you dont get enhancements on shields. Thank god! But still, the gap in effectiveness between using a one-handed weapon and a two-handed weapon is very narrow, especially as levels increase...

    Two handed weapons... *spoliers*

I hadn't realized that, good observation! You're right though, it's not huge. I like to assume you get a 1.5x STR bonus to damage at least, but I haven't found it quite yet. While it appears that two-handed and one-handed weapons aren't quite on the same level, it will still be manageable...
