The 'Wonderland'-Inspired Faces of the RAGE OF DEMONS

Just have to say that I LOVE this character art and the names. I agree with an earlier poster that said it reminded them of DiTerlizzi's work on Planescape and I think that's an excellent thing.

D&D 5E Tell me about your Homebrew 5E campaign setting

Nice! My version's backstory also has links to mind flayers, but to mind flayers and the githyanki/githzerai. I can't say more until the players get further along. ;)

D&D 5E Tell me about your Homebrew 5E campaign setting

My homebrew 5E campaign is based on the never-published Stormfront setting. The world is covered by a thick, supernatural cloud layer called the Veil and what remains of civilization lives among the mountain peaks above it. Below the Veil, the ever-twilit land is called the Gloom, and remains a...

Geek & Sundry Does D&D (and a bunch of other things)

The desktop version of Twitch does use Flash, yes.

Geek & Sundry Does D&D (and a bunch of other things)

Critical Role is excellent. I've never even watched anything on Twitch before, but I'm totally sold. I've never had more fun watching other people play D&D. :)

D&D 5E Can you retry a failed skill check? How long?

If it's something that the player has virtually unlimited time to work on and they are skilled enough to have a reasonable chance at success, I typically won't require a roll. Because if they failed, they could just keep trying again and again anyway. So if they want to spend some time to...

    D&D 5E Bonds as Adventure Tie-ins

One thing I'm considering is stealing an idea from Numenera and adding a bond that links a PC to another PC in the party (this would be in addition to their normal bond). That creates some of the glue that binds an adventuring party together, by establishing the links they have to each other, to...

D&D 5E The indispensable Bard. Small parties and 5th wheels.

I'm so glad that bards have finally caught up to my irrational love of playing them. :)

D&D 5E Your thoughts on Legendary Actions

Totally. The Lair Actions are much more interesting. The Legendary Actions have just as much potential to be interesting, but the examples so far don't do anything particularly interesting with them.

D&D 5E How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level?

I had a BEMCI (later converted to 2nd Edition) character years and years ago who reached 20th level. That was my only one. I later had a 2nd Edition AD&D character who reached about 14th or 15th, I think, but then I graduated high school and that campaign ended.

D&D 5E 5e Eldritch Knight vs PF Magus

I am running a Pathfinder campaign currently where one of the players is a Magus who basically does exactly that. I agree that I don't want any of the 5E classes to be like that, mechanically.

D&D 5E Your favorite and least favorite things :)

Some of my favorite things: Inspiration points for roleplaying and then allowing players to reward them to other players. Advantage/Disadvantage replacing tables full of modifiers. Full-caster bard! The modular nature of backgrounds, subraces, and subclasses. Makes it very easy to homebrew...

D&D 5E Some observations on character creation and advancement

Thanks for the post, I find it interesting to read this kind of thing. I'm going to do the same sort of thing soon, but instead of with a random, new character, I'm going to try to recreate my longest-running 2E character, a half-elven bard. That would be 5E's Bounded Accuracy in action. I...

    D&D 5E Homebrew Campaigns in 5e

After reading your post, I had to go track that post down. I found it and after reading about it, now I really want to play in that setting. I may have to do what you're doing and build a homebrew campaign setting based on that concept.
