I agree with what you just said. While I would never write in a published hard copy module, the pdfs that I have printed out are filled with notes. But I've noticed that the early TSR modules suck for white space!
And since I'm here, for all that is holy in the world, I wish publishers would...
Now that I think of it, any module from the early days that had an accompanying illustration booklet would be a great idea as an test example of layout designs and experiments; the competition modules like C1 Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan spring to mind.
I was thinking in the other thread that rewriting S1 Tomb of Horrors, B1 In Search of the Unknown, or B2 The Keep on the Borderlands would highlight both the advantages and disadvantages of using newer layout designs. I think one of the concerns is that the newer designs almost lead to making...
1. AD&D 2e for the absolute gold mine of materials to kitbash with #3.
2. Classic Traveller for solo play when everyone else is out hunting for food and stuff
3. B/X D&D for when everyone just wants to sit down and drink fermented coconut water and have fun
The major difference is that B/X is capped at 14th level, and BECMI is capped at 36th level but also potentially continues into Immortal levels. BECMI also adds a lot of options as you progress through the Companion and Master Levels that add a bit of complexity.
I understand that everyone has their own preferences, but Civ 2 has 'The Eternal War' that made some pretty impressive news about a decade ago. Sid Meier has even commented on this. The save game is available at one of the links for those that would like to see for themselves. Several...
Another album I've had on rotation today. I started this playlist on the second track, but the video link should allow you to listen to all 14 tracks. If you've played through all your mid-60's pop/bubblegum rock albums and are looking for something similar, this one might be right down your...
I am on the hunt for a specific series of blog posts from 2019 or so that detailed the creation of a hexcrawl/sandbox. The author started with a town in the center hex and built out in rings similar to the flower style. I made a pdf for myself to about three rings and even offered it to the...
After a thousand posts, I'm sure it has already been said, but I think it can't be said enough...
To answer the question, 'How often should PC death happen in a D&D 5e campaign?'
I answer, 'Just a little bit more.'
No thank you, I'll show myself out. :p
Yes, the 'Lone Wolf Thief' was listed in the Kits section of the Thief's Handbook and directed DMs (and presumably Players) to the DMG to create a new class that was mostly built off of the Thief.
