News Digest: D&D Movie "News", a New Editor for D&D, More Eberron from Keith Baker, Robin's Laws of

Whenever the movie gets underway, I hope they do an original story, with original characters, and that it really showcases the setting. Now if only the FR novel line (and the Pathfinder novel line) would pick up again.

    Waterdeep: Dragon Heist First Impressions

I may have to get this, though I would mainly use it for whatever lore it contains.

Baalzebul is back to normal (And other new lore discoveries.)

True, and people will probably stick with what they like, but they still may be upset about the change (or happy about it), because it affects the "official" setting, so whether you choose to add, ignore, mix and match or not, it doesn't change the fact that the official setting has been...

I disagree (though I am not saying what goes on at an individual table is irrelevant), but to each their own. Some people don't care about the fluff or what happens with it, others do.

I guess all discussions about the setting are "fluff" discussions, then. Some of us actually care what is done to the setting. If that is "fluff", fine, it still matters to some people.

I was referring to things in general, not necessarily this change in particular. And if it was all just "fluff" and nobody cared, there would be no point to these forum discussions. If lore was just "fluff" there would be no real reason for it, and we probably wouldn't even be getting books like...

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

That's admittedly how I feel lol (what point are the sourcebooks and establishing anything if people are just going to do what they want, anyway?), so I guess I am one of those who is upset :P I understand taking bits and pieces, or doing things completely homebrew, but if you have an...

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

I can't say I'm really a fan of this trend of the "unreliable narrator" for sourcebooks.

Humans are humans lol. I would expect maybe class, or particular culture of humans to be discussed, and maybe the "human" pantheon (which isn't exclusive to humans, really), rather than humans as a race.

Baalzebul is back to normal (And other new lore discoveries.)

Well, in all fairness, it isn't just fluff. Whether you choose to use it or not, it doesn't change the fact it is there in the official lore. Many of us are invested in the setting(s), so "fluff" is bound to get a reaction, especially if it is a change, whether it is good or bad. If none of this...

Baalzebul is back to normal (And other new lore discoveries.)

Okay, that is more in line with the original elven lore. In Deminhuman Deities, for example, it did say that some elven souls reincarnate after a time, but all elven souls go to Arvandor, and either stay there eternally or are reincarnated (unless they worshiped non-elven deities, in which case...

Hmm...okay. So many rumors circulating lol. I'm not entirely thrilled about the Transcendence thing, either (sounds like too many "conditions"). Does it go into detail about the Transcendence? I suppose it isn't too different from old lore, but it does sound like there are more stipulations...

Baalzebul is back to normal (And other new lore discoveries.)

So the MToF is kind of a lumping of info for the various settings into one book, rather than printing a detailed book for each setting, seems like. I'm still not thrilled about changes to the elf and drow lore, particular in regards to the souls. Yeah, I can live with the elven one, since it...

It sounds like they are being intentional vague in order to avoid talking about it, especially in regards to the drow.
