Nothing so far seems to prevent both from happening. Seems like a lot of the recent WOTC personnel moves have been about making sure all of the various bits are playing together as one big happy family.

Look at it this way. It is a wash. If your eyes prevent mini perfection, they won't notice anyway. That imperfect mini will look great! Especially at table distance. So paint away.
