Obviously Dragons but I've been playing since AD&D and the iconic ones for me are Beholder, Mindflayer, Owlbear, Purple Worm, and Umber Hulk. And because I love the Dark Sun setting, Thri-Kreen.

I kind of feel it should be the other way around; Clerics steal god essence and are outcasts while Druids should be the respected Shamans of the settlements.

Shadow of the Demon Lord system is way underrated IMHO. I much prefer the boon/bane system to advantage/disadvantage of 5E.
