Hi there. I started running the 4e WOTBS back in January and we're well through the first module, starting Act 4 when I get back from holiday. It might be cool to share notes...
One red flag to throw your way is the Dead Rising encounter. Other posters have mentioned this as a potential TPK...
Thanks. Both the sidebar and the boxed description under the heading 'The Situation' seem to infer the party's approaching the school. I suppose you could use the sidebar if the party refuses Buron's request of them. That way they still get the information about Gabal and a chance to meet...
Just prepping my new 4E WOTBS game to start in 2 weeks and I'm a bit confused by one of the encounters in the first module.
At the start of the Stopping Shealis quest (Act 2, Scene 6) the party is supposed to go to Gabal's School. There are two descriptions in the module - one with a crowd and...
I suppose one of the main points is how easy it might be to convert from 4e to 5e. I've run 3e Cthulhu modules in the fifth edition of that game and it hardly shows (appreciate that D&D is likely to have more mechanics though).
One of my main fears is that a D&D community already fragmented...
Thanks ve4grm - I really like the way you've set that out. The lightning damage kinda fits as well.
As luck would have it, one of the players has rolled up a monk hybrid so it looks as if this will get used.
We're also looking to start this campaign soon (in January) and my thought on this feat was that it was a bit overpowered compared to other Heroic tier feats (that typically do +2 damage). I'm considering allowing the feat but reducing the damage bonus to 1d3.
Like the OP, if there are any...
I don't understand. Swords do exist in 4e - in fact there are loads of different types. Heavy Blades are a weapon category rather than a weapon.
Like other posters have said, though, it shouldn't make any difference.:)
I'm also looking to run WOTBS fairly soon and was intrigued by Zinovia's and other's comments about Monster Manual 3 helping to improve the 4E experience for players. I don't have this book and thought it might be unnecessary since all the monster stats are in the modules. Or would you suggest...
Exactly. Having played one 4e campaign (the horrible Keep on the Shadowfell and its 2 successors) I personally concluded that the 4e system was great but that much of the support material was very poor. Most players in my group, however, had decided before even creating PCs that they hated the...
Just joined as I'm looking to run this too (once I've taken some players Beyond the Mountains of Madness).
I'm set on running 4e as my last experience of 3.5 was not great. Given that WOTBS is for levels 1 to 30 and 3x kinda falls apart at about level 12-13 max, I'm going to go with 4e. Like...
