Fighter Archetype, 1/3 Cleric Caster: Crusader

I've created a second version, based on this and some other comments. It sacrifices the thematic identity of domains to be a bit more... elegant is the best word I can come up with. Take a look at it and see what you think -- it's underneath the V1 in the original link.

I wouldn't say better, because you spent it before you hit or miss. But it's definitely a 'similar to and comparable' feature. On a fighter, with up to 4 attacks, it'd be nasty. But it may be allowable as an extra D4 -- kind of like the Divine Favor 1st level spell, but with scaling instead...

Fighter Archetype, 1/3 Cleric Caster: Crusader

That... would explain the complete and utter disconnect between our positions. Honestly, even ignoring the feats I'd be 'obviating', that's the type of straight-up power creep I try to avoid when possible.

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely look over and see if you give me any ideas. That said, the 'capstone' is literally a copy of Eldritch Knight's level 18 bonus. Please explain how it 'obviates' any of the items you mentioned, I just don't see it. It reduces their power level slightly, but...

Fighter Archetype, 1/3 Cleric Caster: Crusader

The intent was only cleric spells, and only evocation / abjuration. I fixed the text up a bit -- a lot of copy & paste errors. I did add the domain spells, but that felt like a good way to add the 'flavor' of different gods in.

Fighter Archetype, 1/3 Cleric Caster: Crusader

At one point in the editing process, I must have (accidentally) stripped out the wording that you couldn't have two domains. The intent is that if you multiclass, you have to have the same domain. I wanted the domain spell lists because those help form the identity of the different deities as...

Fighter Archetype, 1/3 Cleric Caster: Crusader

So a recent game saw me come up with a character whose concept has been evolving. He started out as a death cleric, started growing, changing, becoming, and in the end I find myself thinking that he isn't a cleric. He's a fighter with a dash of divine magic. Not really a paladin, either...

    Sorcerous Origin: Illusory Power

Ooops. The level parts were very, very clear in the first version -- which had abilities which I didn't like and got faded out. As for Touch of Truth not coming into play very often, I'm trying to see that. I mean, it's gonna hard to be subtle about it, but the stereotypical grifter who...

    Sorcerous Origin: Illusory Power

So far, I have mechanics without the fluff. Basic background: I had a character concept, an idea. It's makes the most sense as a sorcerer. Wizards -- who do have a school of illusion -- are generalists who rely on a large, flexible spell list to make up for the deficiencies of individual...

    D&D 5E Justice Domain Cleric

Updated the class based on feedback. Clarified the (sharp) limits on Merciful Death, but I suspect I need to be more clear. Redid the domain spells and bonus proficiencies, with an extension out towards level 8's feature.

    D&D 5E Justice Domain Cleric

As per someone else's advice, I'm looking at moving the radiant rebuke into a wisdom mod per day ability, similar to the thunder domain. Part of it was an issue with finding 'relevant' spells at the appropriate levels, but don't forget that this domain also -- to a degree -- does the work of a...

    D&D 5E Justice Domain Cleric

First, if you have any suggested fixes, please do feel free to bring them out. At the moment, I just don't think we're looking at this the same way, to the point where I'm not sure if we're communicating well. I'm highly confused. There are some pretty serious limits on the channel...

    D&D 5E Justice Domain Cleric

So I wrote something up, and would like some honest critiques and help if anyone is interested: http://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/rJfi7uDNZ Meat of it is on the first page, a spell on the second, and please find a large selection of my notes and reasonings on the third page. Thanks in...

    D&D 5E Best designed classes in 5e

I'll add that while I feel the design niche of the valor bard is an important one, as implemented it's very, very odd. Worse yet if you want to go for a strength-based bard. You spend the first two levels with relatively weak weapons and armor, then suddenly hey-presto! you can use all martial...

D&D 5E I Made My First Legendary Creature - and It Was Easy!

You mention a spell save vs a spell, but what save is it supposed to be? Also, you shouldn't say 'go look up another item', you should copy the text over & edit to fit instead of forcing DMs to edition crawl.
