QFT On a side note, I thought the 2nd D&D movie was pretty good.

DMs - What rolls do you make for your players?

At the beginning of a game session I have my players give me 10 d20 rolls which I record. Then, when necessary for suspense, I take the next d20 roll I have written down for a player and add in their bonuses for the skill in question. Then I cross it off the list. When I have to ask a player...

Why can't you be prepared for a game session

I totally agree with this. My wife and I were just talking about this. We have many friends who are married with kids, and they seem to enjoy the things we do together much more than my wife and I. We came to the conclusion that, since we can do these things whenever we want, it's not nerely...

Why can't you be prepared for a game session

Here, I think, is your problem. It's not an excuse, the player doesn't put leveling his/her character high enough on the priority list to get it done. Why does a person's other time commitments have to be 'serious' to constitute a good reason not to spend time on D&D? Maybe he'd rather play...

What's the best trap you've ever unleashed upon your players?

A living minotaur trap. The PCs were rampaging through a dungeon of sorts, making a big ruckus. The BBEG had his minotaur wait about about 15' away from the doorway (to the side) and charge the first character through the door. It was great fun.

    Do you track rations?

That's a pretty good idea. Might have to try it out.

    Do you track rations?

Got any tips to share on tracking all of that? Usually I have to remind my players about it constantly, and it's always met with looks of disgust. Is all ammo lost when used? I usually do a 50/50 for non magical ammo, magical ammo is almost always recoverable (if they remember to do it hehe :] )

    Do you track rations?

Just wondering how many groups actually track rations throughout an adventure? I tend to only bother if it's going to be a problem for the PCs (long dungeon expiditions, sparse wildlife, etc). In general it seems to be a lot of work for not much gain otherwise...

    Delicate Subjects...

Totally agree with this. Usually I have to pry feedback out of my players. I would think that any DM would welcome it, good or bad, if only to improve the game for everyone.
