I just reacquired that at Value Village for $2.00, it has all the peices but the game box is a little banged up. Is it truly OoP? I thought I saw it in the stores recently. I read that as Dork Tower. :D

I fondly remember both of these. It'd be nice if someone would make simple games like these and put them in a magazine. Though it is very hard to find any dead tree magazines these days. Most companies are going the online route. The only ones I am familiar with is The Crusader from Troll...

Have you (and to what extent) designed your own RPG?

I put "In process" only it doesn't really count, and none of the others really describe what I did. Back in the late 80's I started my own game rules because I was burnt out from playing the games I was playing. I wanted more out of a rpg than the normal rules- I had played with- could offer...

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

Both. I like my combats abstract. I've tried the grid/mini's thing and I just don't like it. To me it is too jarring to stop and go to a board to act out combats... it really disrupts the flow that I like to maintain. I'm sure there are many, many people who really enjoy grid/mini's I'm just...

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

For those who have it. How important is mini's with this edition? Can it be played without mini's easily? (Not as the, yes you can play D&D 4e without miniatures) but play without miniatures with no loss in combat etc. The dependence of miniatures that D&D 4e has is what prevents me from ever...

Yes and yes. The game I had in the 80's was called Shogun, I was unaware that they changed the name. The new Shogun is very, very similar to the original in game board design and some of the rules, but different enough to be their own thing. I've played and enjoyed both. I really have no...

    Back in The Day!

Of course! I live in Canada! We had to make our own dice out of whale bone using crude flint knives!

    Back in The Day!

From 1979 till about 1986 we pretty much exclusively used either graph paper or just regular binder paper, for not only D&D but other games like Universe, Faserip, Traveller, Top Secret, Gangbusters... etc. etc. We new that character sheets existed but saw no real reason to use them. Oh and we...

For those old enough, you know that, back in the '80's Hasbro had triumvirate of games that followed a *military* theme. I'm sure everyone here has heard of or played Axis and Allies. There was also Shogun, the one that is out now is similar to the original version, but I like the original...

    Board Game Suggestions!

Thanks for the heads up. Memoir '44 is one of my favourite games and I certainly wouldn't mind translating that to a fantasy setting. I'll give it a go. :)

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

Really? Why in the world, you as a game store owner, would open prepackaged dice- specialty dice for one game- to sell them individually, when you could sell the whole pack of dice even if the customer only lost/needed one or two of the dice in the pack? Breaking open the dice pack makes...

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

Gaahh... sorry. Somehow, when I was looking at the .ca site it switched to the .com site without me noticing. I thought I was going crazy trying to find it again at .ca So, those quotes were for the US. The D&D 4e gift set is $76.23 cdn. So you can extrapolate that the WFRP 3e will be around...

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

I think a more likely scenario is they are going to release the books separately as well as the fiddly bits, after a predetermined amount of time has passed. Otherwise your going to have some pissed off gamers when they lose some of their fiddly bits, or the get ruined etc. No one is going to...
