    Creature for making a tunnel

You know you could also simply have it set up that the drow and their allies pre-dug the tunnels. No sense in over complicating things.

    Creature for making a tunnel

If you are talking Drow, you are talking spiders... There are spiders that burrow and with a bit of help from the spider queen I am sure that would do the trick.

    Crusader question

I will have those ready for the restart of the Against the Giants campaign. I turned the 15th paladin into a 9/6 crusader/paladin mix. It should be a lot of fun for the kids to play. Thanks again for all the help.

    Crusader question

It helps quite a bit. This crusader is going to be really ugly... I can't wait for the student in our club who has one to see this information...

    Crusader question

I created a 6th level crusader for our club campaign, and while I love the stances and maneuvers that she gets, boy do I love a few of them I am unsure as to how often in an encounter I can use them. Can someone help a teacherman out?

Crafting a new campaign where nature tries to kick civilization's butt

Elves are more forest orientated than city orientated. Maybe Gnomes or Halflings would be a better go between. And there was a Celtic God of the forest from the original Deities and Demigods that might work as well. He is true neutral and the ultimate tree hugger. Or if you really want to...

Looking for assistance creating a backup character

You could go with a scout, that skirmish ability is truly lethal with the right feats like many shot. Move 10 feet do 1d6 of damage plus the additional 4d6 damage, lather rinse repeat as needed.

22 classes: What are the successful ones?

I am running a 3.5 mini tournament and the characters that made me want to create one myself were the barbarian and the scout. If I get a chance to create a new character I am totally going with the scout. Talk about stick and move. Give a scout some bow feats like rapid shot and a bit of room...

D&D 5E So, have we missed the boat on simple character creation?

I know what it is like to try to create characters using newer rules. I went from a 1st edition background (I still have my old books) to 3.5 and I felt like I was in the twilight zone the first 6 times I created a character. Now after practicing a bit I can pretty much create any of the major...

"The aim is for the players to have fun"

They are in the conversions part of the forum from 1st edition to 3.5. I think there were also links to the pdf files of the original adventures there as well. I created 15th level characters for the adventure since I am running a tournament. So far so good although the wizard did almost entomb...

    Fortress battle help

Why not borrow from the Iliad? Perhaps the elves had something that was valuable enough (holy symbol, leader etc.) to the Shadar-Kai that they had no choice BUT to lay siege to the fortress to get that item/person back. It would be ironic to have the party in effect, be the bad guys in this...

Doing it wrong Part 1: Taking the dragon out of the dungeon

@Pemberton To me, a pre-made adventure is not a game on rails, it's merely a skeleton that is fleshed out by the decisions the players make. It's also something that can be worked into a 'sandbox mode' game. And while some groups do great without much structure, other's don't. One of the great...

"The aim is for the players to have fun"

Have you tried a premade series like the Giants modules? It will give them a set goal, it has a mix of combat investigation and you don't have to reinvent the wheel. There are conversions for them here on the site.

Doing it wrong Part 1: Taking the dragon out of the dungeon

The thing many people are forgetting is that the newer versions of D&D allow you to have your cake AND eat it. You can have an old school D&D style campaign where many of the party don't make it, OR you can have a more open ended style campaign where the players drive things, OR you can mix and...
