I would love it if Eldritch Blast changed depending on a warlock's pact. The demon pact warlock could set people on fire or something.

My biggest issue with it is that it feels like a slightly better option than everything else the warlock has, so the player isn't really tempted to use anything else. And it's kind of boring too, compared to all of the other awesome abilities the warlock has access to.

Well, Backgrounds and schemes aren't quite the same. Background defines what a character was, and how he was useful in normal society, whereas scheme defines what kind of a rogue he or she is.

I'm getting a huuuuuge Skyrim vibe from from the dragon sorceror! And I think that's a good thing. I've tested him in an encounter side by side to a fighter and didn't feel like one overshadowed the other. Granted, this is at level one.

I'd say a character with minor magic could cast a number of minor spells per day equal to his or her spellcasting attributes + level. It's high enough so that wizards won't be constantly running out, but it gives a limit still. I'll keep my at-wills, though.
