D&D 5E Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

AD&D used to have rules about aging, I believe. I never really saw any point to it, and I don't think they should bring them back. Nor should they limit ability by gender. BUT, it's personally always bugged me when people make characters who are, let's say 5'10" and 160 lbs and have 18...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder w/o Cleric?

I'm going to offer a left-field suggestion: What if you changed the fluff for clerics? I find players don't like being the "holy man" or having to use blunt weapons. But if you make "cleric" a magical race unique to your campaign that has access to the same magic from non-divine sources...

D&D 5E ,Q&A: New Skill system, Skill dice, and profiencies (May 2)

D&D 5E ,Q&A: New Skill system, Skill dice, and profiencies (May 2)

How about this for a "no skills" skill system: Associate each potential skill or action with an ability. The player gets to add the character's ability bonus to any attempt to use that skill. So an attempt to persuade gets a bonus for high Charisma. Each character class has a predetermined...

D&D 5E Rolling for All Spells

A binary result isn't more random because there are more possible numbers that can be rolled. If I roll d100 and succeed on a 51 or more, it's no more swingy than flipping a coin. The problem an opposed roll would raise is that you would need a new rule for what happens when you get a tie.

D&D 5E L&L: Mike Lays It All Out

What if you just get the ability bumps twice as often as you might get a feat? Doesn't that help even it out?

D&D General Did anyone ever "win" D&D?

If someone says they have done this, would you believe them?

D&D 5E L&L: Mike Lays It All Out

Rather than try to make every feat roughly equivalent to a +1, they could use the pluses to abilities up to, say, level 6 or 8, and then replace the pluses with feats at that point. It would give the higher levels a different flavor, and by the time you reach them, you're ready for something a...
