FANTASY GROUNDS Virtual Tabletop's D&D License!

Well I'm glad it'll be of use to you. It's sub-par because it's obviously (to me) written for a different platform. Between the settings-tango that needs to be done on setup and the window-in-window UI even before getting into the app, it's sub-par to me because it doesn't run flawlessly to me...

FANTASY GROUNDS Virtual Tabletop's D&D License!

Wow. I've been as excited for and supportive of 5E since the play-test. But this is a big miss-step for me; the only mac option for FG is through steam. And all that does is create a wineskin wrapper... what a sub-par option! That and fold in the pricing and this is a non-starter.

    D&D 5E 5E Spell & Item Card Templates

Beautifully done. If I had a windows machine I may have bitten on these. But, as mentioned, you should remove the pre-loaded spell and item card sets from the offering. But great job!

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

This second sentence may be true in that there are no 'common' permanent items listed in any of the released sources so far. But 'easiest to find' of the permanent magic items is not the same thing as "aren't that hard to find" as a general statement of the first sentence. Put another way; just...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

But, but... You're the one jumping up and down for the player's right to have fun! how it's so bad to have his 'shtick' taken away by... well, that would be the OP's DM right?? Who else would you be talking about? And in this specific case it seems that means solving the problem their way (give...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

Meh, luckily those aren't the only 2 options being proposed. Speaking only for myself (a DM), I know those aren't the ONLY things I could do, and probably wouldn't do either of those things in this case. I don't advocate for pointing and laughing at the 'ninja'. And again, for the third time, I...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

I understand what you're trying to say but, again, what I'm saying is scout is not a class, it's the character 'schtick' of this specific character. None of the classes are invalidated by sticking them in the underdark. It invalidates the character shtick AS EXECUTED in this case, but it does...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

Question: how do we know that the DM hasn't been providing a means (or at least hooks) to mitigate these difficulties?? All we know is that the player can't SCOUT anymore, and asking for magic shops in-world as the way to mitigate it? No. Why not just ask that 'Underdark' is just a figure of...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

Personally, I wouldn't count a character's way of addressing their (self-described) debilitating shortcoming as a 'pointless interaction'. So, seems to me, that this has now become the established story, at least for the OP. And therefore again tying back to the thread subject; no, this is not...

D&D 5E The Case for a Magic Item Shop?

Based on this it sounds like option C from your original post and the subject of the thread is a moot point - at least in your specific and immediate circumstance. Even if there were magic shops in your campaign, they wouldn't have done your character any good. In either case, I don't see the...

D&D 5E Modules and lack of player engagement...

This is a great suggestion! In our game, I'll be starting a new group on LMoP and moving onto HotDQ, and will be using Backstory Cards method to build connections between the players, their backgrounds, and NPC's, places and events in both modules.

D&D 5E Good news about DungeonScape

Couple of points around the 'should be free if we're being their testers' and 'should be free to try' whingin. 1) From what I've seen/read of the product it seems like they've gone a long way towards testing and refining the product what with the demo/walkthroughs at the cons and the alpha...

D&D 5E What armor can druids wear? Is there a way to get a decent AC?

Thanks for agreeing that it makes sense, but I'm not sure about the 'in itself' part. Given the fact that the interpretation works mechanically, against the text of the spell description, AND it actually makes sense within the narrative, I'm not sure why that isn't "compelling in context of the...

D&D 5E What armor can druids wear? Is there a way to get a decent AC?

My response to your counter argument would be (in no order of validity/correctness): - Because barkskin works the way it's described in the block. Specific over... implied ? - Barkskin is not armor at all, it is the effect of a spell, so to reverse your question: why would barkskin have to...
