@gideonpepys, I agree that this is a reasonable approach to take. But it doesn't appear to be supported by the text. It does say that moving the seal away from the portal releases the Thing from Beyond, but it doesn't say that doing so ends the ritual. (In fact, it says the opposite: the ritual...
I'm going to start taking my players through Digging For Lies next week... I'm looking forward to it! One thing I'm confused about, though:
How do the players prevent the portal from rupturing at the end? I've run through all the scenarios and I don't see any way for them to not end up killing...
Exactly this. WotC has been going for a "quality over quantity" approach in 5e ever since the beginning. I have no doubt that Mearls & Co. are working on *something* in exchange for cutting down their monthly UA workload. Personally, I'm hoping the extra time is going into even better paid material.
Thanks! Sherlock Holmes was my first thought. I haven't heard of Solomon Kane, but that sounds perfect. I'll look it up.

That does look right on point in terms of the era and mix of technology and magic.
I'm going to start running Zeitgeist soon-ish and I want to start off with a good mood-setting movie. I'd also love to have some music for character creation and similar. What would be good?
I thought about it, but decided the plot complications were too much for me to handle. :-) I almost excluded Demonic pact too, then decided to go the "cursed item" route similar to adventure #4. Should be a nice role-playing opportunity if any players go for it.
Perfect timing. I don't have an opinion on these questions, but I just started converting Zeitgeist to 5e myself, so I'm interested in seeing what comes out. Mostly it seems easy to translate, but I haven't figured out how to get the great 4e statblocks and setpieces to come over yet.
FWIW, I'm...
I'm just now prepping Zeitgeist for my 5e group. I've read up to #5, and studied #1 and #2 closely for my prep. Zeitgeist is FAR AND AWAY the best adventure path I've ever read. The attention to detail and the creativity blows me away. I love how, time and again, a classic trope is subverted...
That's an interesting perspective. On reflection, I think you're right. The cloaker/lurker/trapper, gas spore, wolf-in-sheep's-clothing, Temple of Elemental Evil, that example of play with the ghouls... they all evoke the game as a puzzle to be solved.
I doubt such a game could exist today, to...
The first thing I look at for a Kickstarter project is the "Risks and Challenges" section. I feel it gives me insight into the character of the creators, and it also helps me understand how the project will deal with the inevitable problems that arise.
In this case, I was disappointed...
