Nah, just the same old wizard complaints when another class has something, or asks for something, or isn't asking 'where's the wizard' when they aren't on camera.
At some point, people decided that only direct, specific magic could be fantastic and there could be no badass normals--even to the level of real people like Jack Lalane. 20th level fighters wish they were capable of half as awesome a feat as that man was capable of at 70.
What, you think 'weapon guy who only gets things from subclasses', 'archer-pet owner-naturalist-tracker-exclusively magical for some reason ourdoorsman', and 'literally every skilled person is stealthy and attacks with precision' aren't perfectly good class identities?
Are we just going to ignore the irony of being upset that someone is stealing the wizard's thunder, especially the one the wizard is constantly used as an excuse to deny things to? Including apparently existence?
Because the genie's out of the bottle and the level of licensing you'd need to create the ecosystem the OGL did would require paying SO many lawyers.
People have gone into way better detail than I can as to why Open Source is a really excellent strategy for those looking toward fostering a...
The way the OGL did before? By growing the market and creating a robust support network for their inhouse work?
And rebuilding some of the massively shattered good will like they originally said they would?
