The Holy Grail of Online Tools (Listen up, WotC!)

Another program like this is Wolflair's Realmworks. http://www.wolflair.com/realmworks Which is billed at campaign management, but my puttering around the beta of it shows good promise on the adventure side too.

D&D 5E How important is party balance in Next? (iow, how necessary are clerics?)

Just to add a few notes: A tool pick of Herbalism will let any class craft half price healing potions with your control being access to the herbs used to craft them. A druid can heal as much as a non-life cleric. A paladin can also provide a surprising amount of combat healing with his...

D&D 5E it appears to be very easy to break the game

Right now most of the overpoweredness comes in via the multiclassing rules which only just appeared before they stopped playtesting. While there are some nice subtle costs ,like your level 4 ability increase/feat is delayed by multiclassing and the fact most classes get their stuff over the...

D&D 5E it appears to be very easy to break the game

You are right on most of it although you missed the part on sneak attack of "You can use this feature only once per turn".

    D&D 5E Why I Think D&DN is In Trouble

On the point of old TSR stuff leading to OSR I am not so sure. Personally I have been getting some of the old modules to read them for nostalgia reason. But others I have been running basically out of the box with DnDN rules.

    Player Primers

A good way I've seen done is also to include some of the fluff in the crunch. Like a list of Pathfinder traits available for that campaign that each has an in world example that mentions a person or place etc. E.g. Student of Flame: You have studied with the master evoker Venter in his...

D&D 5E Challenge: Build a 5E campaign with classic modules

While not to level 20 I just finished running a mini-campaign over the last handful of playtest packets doing B5 Horror on the Hill set in a celtic type setting that segued then into the C4 and C5 modules of To Find a King and The Bane of Llewellyn. This went from 1-8 quite nicely.

    D&D 5E weapon damage

While I do kind of like the greater average damage of the Greatsword versus the greater critical damage of the Greataxe. It is a little wrong that the longsword wielded twohanded (d10 versatile) critical (2d10 = 11) is also better than the Greatsword (3d6 = 10.5).

Does anyone have experience with GAZ10: The Orcs of Thar?

I ran a campaign probably about 18 years ago that was highly enjoyable for all involved, I don't remember all the details but can give you the campaign overview. Basically we played it as a more roleplay/political campaign (I mean why else play monsters? :) ) rather than a normal dungeon...

Zeigeist E6, Adventures 1-5 Suggestions wanted.

Hello, As the title suggests I am about to start up a Zeitgeist campaign. Going for E6 DnD 3.5 running modules 1-5. I expect that since the E6 power level reachs above 6 with the extra feats that of level 7 we should be ok on that. I just have a few questions and am after thoughts of...

Laptops - What programs or resources do you use to help you run or play your games?

Virtual Combat Cards has been a good addition with the DMs in my group and made the laptop a feature behind the shields. Treepad is a nice program that I've been using for management of notes since the 90s (MyNotesKeeper seems similar). But Masterplan does look very nice. :)

Ways to increase critical hit range...

Shaman encounter power 7: Call to the Blood Dancer. All allys adjacent to your spirit companion crit on 18-20 for the round.

Player request, Ramna 1/2? Looking for ideas and suggestions

One way to handle the stat abuse issue is to give them -4 Str in one form and -4 Dex in the other. The bonus is the flexiblity of having two faces etc.

What do your DM/GM Notes Look Like?

I have been using TreePad for the last decade. Basically a file structure of notes inside of one file. With posting maps and various notes into it, I use one file per campaign. Also has a nice feature being able to export a file or part of a file to html so making a campaign website is...

Do you hand out less treasure?

With H1 and H2 being a bit light, I added a labratory to a suitable place near the end . There they can enhance magic items with a few days ingame which will let the party pick three of thier +1 items and enhance them to +2. Interactive, ingame logical power catchup. :)
