Kickstarter [Spellbound Kingdoms] Kickstarter for Spellbound Kingdoms: Arcana is live!

Hello all! The kickstarter for the new Spellbound Kingdoms: Arcana book went live yesterday. We're already past our funding goal, moving into the stretch goals. For those of you who don't know me, I worked on a ton of D&D 3e stuff for WotC and Paizo back in the days when Col_Pladoh was posting...

Announcing the 2012 Gen Con EN World RPG Awards Nominees!

Fantastic! All the people here at T. Shield Studios - that would be me - are very happy and gratified to see Spellbound Kingdoms on the list. Congrats to all the other nominees, thanks to the judges, and most of all thanks to all the fans for supporting the game.

    Good/New Fantasy RPG's

Shameless self-plug alert! You should check out my game, Spellbound Kingdoms. It meets all of your criteria, although the Renaissance elements (there are black powder guns, for example) might push it too far away from "classical fantasy" for you. Still, you can remove those elements without...

Does a game like this exist?

Warning: shameless self-plug alert! As others have said, it depends on your interpretation of rules-light, but you might want to check out my game, Spellbound Kingdoms. One of the design goals I had while making it was to provide lots of customization (I wanted people to be able to "play" the...

Rejection for DDI article isn't so bad

Yeah, Chris rocks Chris Perkins is the absolute best. He is a super nice guy, and he is super talented as well. I don't quite understand why Mearls got the #1 D&D spot ahead of Chris when Bill was let go. But if I had been making that decision, Chris would have gotten the job hands down. He is...

[Spellbound Kingdoms] Print-on-Demand versions now available!

At long last, the print versions of Spellbound Kingdoms are now available. You can purchase the hardcover in black-and-white or color. I have both versions sitting right here on my shelf, and they look great! Here's the link: Spellbound Kingdoms The 304-page B&W hardcover is $29.99; the same...

For those of You who Write/Design your own Games

I went there. I'm lost. Is there a game there? I see an article telling you to play other games in order to play your game, but I don't actually see your game.

For those of You who Write/Design your own Games

I write RPGs because I love them. They're my favorite type of art. They spark my imagination and thought, they help me get together with friends, and they make me laugh and have fun. Some game design principles: 1. The goal is to be fun to play and fun to read. 2. Most players have fun when...

Poll: Which Systems are you playing or have played in the last year?

3e/PF, 4e, Savage Worlds. Not on the list: Spellbound Kingdoms, Dark Heresy, A Song of Ice and Fire.

Ashen Stars: space opera done really right

Hm, initially it lost me at the double-acronym (Licensed Autonomous Zone Effectuators). But that's a pretty strong recommendation, so I'll give it a look!

How often do you include NPCs primarily for roleplaying reasons?

I can't imagine running D&D or any rpg without creating far more NPCs for roleplay than for combat.
