Kinda OT: The New World of Darkness

This is kinda OT, as it's not d20 related, but hey.

I heard at my local FLGS that White Wolf has decided to blow up the World of Darkness and relaunch all the games. As someoen that had played in Vampire and Werewolf campaigns before, I'm kind of interested.

I understand the games will be retitled (so Mage will be The Awakening instead of The Ascension). Anyway, I was just a bit curious as to what the other titles are going to be called, and if White Wolf has said anything about the system, like how much if it's going to be tweaked, if they're going to try and balance the different WoD games (Mage, Werewolf, Vampire, ect) against each other)

Vampire: the Requiem
Werewolf: the Forsaken
Mage: the Awakening

It's been said that we may see a few familiar names or concepts in the WoD2, but the structure of each 'splat' will be completely unlike their counterparts in the original WoD. Thus, there may be a group of vampires called Nosferatu, but they wouldn't be the same Nos as we're familiar with. There may be a group of vampires heavily into magic and its relationship with blood, but they won't be the Tremere.

At the moment, all we have is speculation. There will be a seperate Core Rulebook needed for playing any of the three games, which is understood to mean the complete rules for running normal (non-supernatural) humans will be in the Core book. The three other books will then let you run the super you want, and also provide rules for turning your Core human into the appropriate grouping.

Aside from that, it's anyone's guess.

Also, for the record, the End's for the other game lines have already happened at this point. I don't recall when the new games come out, but Gehenna etc are already out.

I'm pretty sure they'll release the core WoD book and Vampire: The Requiem at GenCon.

I also heard (possibly just a rumor or I am going nuts) that White Wolf is going to release the main rules in the Vampire book but the Werewolf and Mage books are going to be just additional rules that are tacked on to the core rules in Vampire. Kind of like how Traveller T20 did it. You need the Vampire book to learn the game mechanics. I kind of like the idea, imagine how much more setting material they could have put in the Mage and Werewolf core books if they didn't keep having to repeat all the same rules that were put into Vampire.

It's been pretty well established that this is not the case. There will be a separate Core Rulebook which you have to buy to run any of the games, Vampire included.

And yes, the "Time of Judgement" books for the current WoD are already all out.

I've posted every relevant piece of info that I could find on my webpage (including a small bit of artwork). The Basalt Throne. Plus, I'd love to have peple come on over and start conversations and such about it. I'm a huge WoD fan m'self and REALLY look forward to the WoD2.0 stuff.

White Wolf put up the logos for Vampire The Requiem and the new World of Darkness. I like 'em, they are slick and they have a very modern feel. Discuss !
