An Apology....

I tend to remember several babes of gen con polls on this board long before yours TS. Or one or somthing. I think Sean Reynolds has the right of it... No contests, just pictures.

The pictures are still up, you goofus. :P

Truth Seeker, thanks for the apology. It really wasn't a tremendous problem. While we don't mind having a "Babe" thread linked from an off-site source (your Yahoo account, in this case -- good idea, that) we'd rather not have the "who's the coolest" poll here for a couple of different reasons. Thanks for understanding that, and for respecting our wishes.

Anyways, no harm done (other than the red text on black background - yeek) and no need for recrimination. Just provide a link to your photo album for poor Torm!

Here is my Entry for "Guy-Babes of Gen Con"

And I voted for "ENies presenter girl"

The only apology that I request is for having written this text in deep red over a black background. It hurts my eyes while trying to read through it...

As for the "babes"... pfff....
Black ground? Wait, don't you use the special custom feature to make the EnWorld pages to make a different color...mine is set to the Player Handbook style.

But sorry on the red on black thing...

I'm gonna throw in my $0.02 here, and frankly, some of you aren't going to like it. That said, I won't cross any boundries here, and I don't expect everyone to agree with my point.

Ok,

I'm oh so very tired with continuing political correctness bullsh*t. Allow me to epsouse, I am not a woman, I am married, I have a young daughter. Thus, I understand, to a degree, the evils of objectification.

I don't see any harm in the original post, and I don't see any need for a public apology. I do see need for certain measures of sensitivity in our posting, but going to far, in my judgment, is just as bad as not having any at all. While the post in and of itself my lack a certain grace or tact, I do not believe it to be offensive content to the average person, either male or female.

Again, my $0.02.

ROFL...*cough, cough*

Telfon Billy...I swear, if I did get you in a flow blown pic, you will win hands down.

But wait, mercy, Heaven forgive me for this...for the GIRLS only, in the EnWorlders at Gen Con ablum, there is only ONE, only one, pic of EnWorld Men (all together), I think it can be classified as a "Guy Babes of Gen Con"

I, for one, do not accept your apology, because you didn't apologize for what I was upset about - which is that I DIDN'T GET TO SEE THE PRETTY PICTURES!!!!

Therefore, I would like a more thorough, illustrated apology, in which you show each of the offending pictures, and explain why it was wrong to have shown them in the first place, individually.

Thank you.
Torm, great warrior, the pics can be located in a running thread called, "Pics of Gen Con 2004"

Show them individually??? That will take years!!!!

The original poll shouldn't even have been locked. Were there a lot of reports to Moderators or something? Or was it preemptive? Prevenge?

Whatevuh.

What troubles me is THIS thread. Is it now legal to start threads discussing closed topics?

And the moral is...heavy-handed moderation sometimes causes more problems than it solves. Thus endeth the lesson, biyotches!

Hi...I do understand your view, but I also understand PC's view also, as a former moderator myself (different site), there are hard choices to make, when somethings are considered a bit to out there.

There are the main rules and house rules that all moderators walk with, it is not an easy thing, trust me on that...hey, it was not deem proper, that how it is....and the response to it, is much better than to some sites, or one site, that should remain nameless, that moderators would take things off, without a word or reason why.

Now I would be upset, for all the money I spent, that people will not be able to enjoy the results, in viewing I mean:) . Since a unseen point has been passed, that no one saw coming...it is a lesson to learn and grow from.

Would I do this again? Maybe...but resources will be used differently in the showing, as not to cause conflict with other people's senses of right and wrong.

Now, I raise you a quarter. 25cents.:p

This whole issue has reminded me of a fascinating article published by Game Critics as part of their E3 2004 coverage. It is an article in which the author goes about E3 on the last day of the show and talks to some of the "booth babes" and gets a little peek of their perspective. For me it was a really interesting opportunity to take a look at the whole convention thing through a new set of eyes - a lot to think about! Here's the article...
