Tests and Trials (Manzanita Judging)

Luthiel takes one final shot at the goblin in the tree. Miraculously, the bolt flew through the air, leaves, and branches to strike the goblin right in the back. It falls out of the tree and plummets twenty feet to the ground where it lands with a sickening crunch. It lies perfectly still.

Garrit takes another swipe at the battle-frenzied goblin but misses.

Jasper moves forward and attacks but misses as well.

Cryndo tries to bash the goblin in the skull but misses, too.

The goblin cackles gleefully at its apparent skill.

Devlin's turn.

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

Devlin walks up the goblinoid he shot earlier and runs him through with his rapier.

[sblock]Assuming goblinoid is incapacitated as you indicated, this should be a coup de grace attack. If not, then attack should be at +8 (+4 attack bonus, +4 defender prone).[/sblock]

Devlin's rapier tip pierces the goblin's throat easily. It gurgles for a short moment, spasms, and dies.

The goblin fighting the rest of the party raises its bloody dagger to strike again, but suddenly it freezes in mid-thrust. It looks about itself and hastily drops its dagger. It looks behind it to see the motionless bodies of its companions and whimpers. It collapses to its knees. No tears of compassion roll from its eyes, only a look of terror at its probable fate. Slowly it raises its hands into the air and says, "No fight...?"

Initiative combat over, though you may still choose to use your weapons and whatnot. There is one prone goblin, unconscious still alive, and the one kneeling goblin.

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

Luthiel quickly pokes his head into each of the tents, checking for any remaining goblinoids. Assuming he finds none, he begins dragging all of the stuff out of each tent, though he he looks always for any traps that might be in effect before touching anything.

Devlin Magruder

Devlin sheaths his rapier and checks the other creature to see if it still lives and, if so, binds it with strips of cloth torn off the dead goblinoid.

[sblock]Devlin is checking the one that fell out of the tree at the beginning, not the one Luthiel shot out of the tree, just in case there was any confusion.[/sblock]

Devlin inspects the goblin caught in the undergrowth. It isn't dead, though it is quite unconscious and injured. Nothing that won't heal with time, though.

Luthiel begins searching the tents. In the outer two tents, two simple cots rest in each, along with two bags with cooking utensils and minor trinkets. In the center tent, he finds a gash in the tent canvas and an already dead goblin lying on a cot. The elf finds no traps in his cursory search and none go off. Once he has piled up the loot from the tents, he counts 133 copper, 54 silver, 12 gold, 3 wooden bowls, 2 rusty, bloodstained daggers, 1 clean, ornate, ceremonial dagger, and 1 small, black, leatherbound book written in that same strange language. Of course, there are also 6 cots (1 bloodstained), 3 tents (1 with a large gash), and 4 simple sacks.

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

Luthiel begins dividing the coins into equal piles, one for everyone present. He'll set the goods aside, and begin taking the tents down, packing them up carefully.

"So, what's the next move? I'd rather not stay here in the forest, but in the clearing if we are to rest for the evening." And with that, Jasper looks for the advice of his companions.

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

After trussing up the unconscious goblinoid, Devlin returns to the woods to retrieve his crossbow. He returns and carries the prisoner to the small clearing where the rest of the party is now gathered.

"Well, looks like we have one," Devlin then notices the second goblinoid, the one who surrendered, "make that two, candidates for interrogation. The question is, should we handle it, or turn them over to the wizard?"
