4e [Eberron] BnP Keep on the Shadowfell (Yea, though I walk through the valley of th)

Zaram

Zaram clanks along leading the group along with the dwarf. He turns and speaks to those behind them. "I say we wait until we need the light. We have enough to see by right now. No need to attract unwanted attention in the meantime. Once we get closer to our destination, Adain can hold the lit sunrod, if he so desires. We won't be sneaking up on anybody with all this noise we are making."

A patch of rough terrain forces you away from the river for a bit. Looping back brings you to a small clearing.

Moving around in the woods with no attempt at stealth quickly brings you into contact with horde of kobolds. Fortunately, save for Brock, you all notice their high pitched shrieks before they are upon you. edit: OOC- brock is surprised, not Iridian.

[sblock=Combat -Adain -> monsters -> everybody else]

F4 PC init
R0 [Surprise round]

[sblock=Map Notes]
The trees here do NOT provide concealment, but they do provide cover if you're in/beyond them...
so you can all see each other just fine[/sblock]

Pulling free his crossbow, Adain ducks for cover of the woods to better assess the situation.

ooc: in you perception check link, Iridian appears to have rolled a 20? I believe he is the only one with +7 perception anyways?
[sblock=OOC: Sorry kinem and Ere]I am a moron. Someone else is surprised. Probably Brock, since he's number 2 in alphabetical order.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC:Readied crossbow]I think that you could ready a power, like lance of faith if you wanted to. Of course, if Adain was a crossbowman during the Last War...[/sblock]ooc: once Iridian's gone I'll post further here. I think maybe the trees do provide cover/block LoS. Oh, well. you can see through them anyway.

Iridian fires off two quick arrows before retreating back to his friends. One arrow hits a tree, but the other slams into the Kobold Dragonshield with serious force.

[sblock=stats]HP 22/23; Bloodied 11; Healing Surge 5; Surges Remaining 1/6

Note: I don't know why IC rolled 24 times, but I just took the first two.
Rolls: atk, dmg (1d20 6=13, 1d10=9, 1d20 6=26, 1d10=9, 1d20 6=9, 1d10=1, 1d20 6=21, 1d10=1, 1d20 6=19, 1d10=6, 1d20 6=15, 1d10=7, 1d20 6=15, 1d10=10, 1d20 6=13, 1d10=5, 1d20 6=18, 1d10=5, 1d20 6=13, 1d10=8, 1d20 6=15, 1d10=3, 1d20 6=24, 1d10=10)[/sblock]

The dragonshield lets out a high pitched squeal as Iridian bloodies it with a perfectly placed shot.

Adain deftly picks off a kobold as they swarm forward, deftly avoiding their attacks. A cunning skirmisher loops behind him, stabbing him in the back.
A glue pot smacks into a tree near the cleric's head.

[sblock=R0 (Surprise round) at bat Tyron Zaram and then Iridian & Adain again]
22 Iridian - bloodies KD
17 KD - stays pat; looks like he's got his sword up ready for anybody who gets too close.
-----------Bloodied

16 Adain - Move F2, readies Crossbow
12 KSk delayes
11 KM - lots of movement, <Adain goes here killing a charging kobold> only two get into contact with the party (Adain) by charging. MISS & MISS
11.1 KSk Moves I1, charges Adain (G1) HIT [8 DAM]
10 KSl fires glue pot at Adain MISS
10 Brock - surprised
09 Tyron
05 Zaram

I think Adain's move is going to be 12 next round, just to preserve my sanity.

Status
Adain -8
KDs -20
------- designated quarry by Iridian
-------BLOODIED
[/sblock]

[sblock=Map Notes]
The trees here do NOT provide concealment, but they do provide cover if you're in/beyond them...
so you can all see each other just fine but -2s are the order of the day

I didn't reflect this in every IC roll but i did not it in determining whether the kobolds hit or missed. [/sblock]

"Take them down before they swarm us!" Tyron says, blasting the nearest kobold.

[sblock=ooc]
Using Eyebite against kobold in E3
Eyebite (1d20+4=9, 1d6+4=6) hit 9 (11 with fast post bonus ;)) vs will.

If it is enough to kill it, cursing the skirmisher with minor action.
