Johanna looked around, trying to get some sense of the foes they were facing. There was, however, little time for analysis- it was time to fight...

Shifting her long spear around, she lashed out at one of the twisted creatures, giving an angry shout as she struck- the creature was a bit farther away than she had thought, and the blow was just short, despite the spear's reach. Then she took a long step backwards and whipped the shaft of the spear at the other creature, forcing it to pay attention to her.

Save Bryan! Round 1

Elkrysn, happy to have relatively large, slower moving targets, moves back to see better before using his powers of darkness on the nearest one in preparation for a rather sad attempt to blast a zombie's mind with a bolt of psychic energy. The drow's magic bathes it for all to see, but his psychic attack fails to find purchase.

[Hit & Miss. Grants CA UENT Elkrysn.]

With stunning alacrity, the creatures spring into motion. The abomination wrapped in eerie fire gurgles as a fleshy tentacle sprouts from its dead flesh. It lashes around to frightening length and smacks at the Northern woman, but she nimbly dodges aside. The smaller creature darts between Johanna's legs and around Lhavarr, dead teeth and claws flashing before diving into the green morass. Both are scored, the wounds on Johanna's legs bleeding. It disappears in the pustules.

[L1's attack misses. D1 uses power to shift four squares and attacks both Johanna & Lhavarr; both hit for 13hp. Hides.][sblock=Torqua, Sapo]It is at G16.[/sblock]Out of some of the clustered wrongness in the south, another of the tainted dead crawls out. It lumbers at Johanna, a gurgling moan mixed with the sound of a tentacle sprouting from its chest. The strike comes uncomfortably close, but warrior ducks it in time. The tentacle continues to wave threateningly.

[L2 stands and charges Johanna (it has reach 3). Misses.]

Focused on the battle below, the drow is startled when another of the smaller creatures clambers from its hiding place! Only the drow's fast thinking keep the creature's dirty teeth from sinking into his leg.

[Hidden D2 moves next to E and attacks; misses]

But that is not the end. The gravely soil next to the shard parts and a hunched corpse pulls itself from the ground. Tattered robes and a befouled beard marks its visage. The boy moans in pain as it stands. It screams a piercing shriek, and blast a dark bolt from its rotting hand at the surprised Lhavarr. The half-elf's confidence allows him to fight the mental assault.

[M appears and misses.]

[Everyone up. Voda, let me know if you are keeping Sapo's actions.]

attachment.php

The lip is difficult terrain going up and down; an Athletics check (DC Down is 13, DC Up is 19) can be made as part of a move action to make this normal movement.

Big rocks give cover; smaller rubble is difficult terrain. Green blobs are the pustules; walking through them is possible. Water is not difficult terrain but it costs 1 extra square of movement to enter/leave it. The lighter stone near the boy/rock looks to be somewhat unsteady.

Red glow is the shard; green cross is the boy. Forgot to put dog on map but he is nearby.[/sblock]

Johanna hesitated for a brief moment, looking from foe to foe with indecisive anger. Then she blew out a sharp exhaled roar- in the same instant she reached instinctively for a feeling of connection with the primal strength of the earth, the pure stone beneath this tainted ground.

In a heartbeat's time, her skin darkened and took on a stony look, almost like a goliath. A glittering wash of lightning surged down the length of her spear, setting the tip aglow for an instant as she lunged forward. Her first stab went wide, but she continued to drive forward, shouting a wordless roar that seemed to deep-noted to come from a human throat.

Here's to hoping that they have Reach 3, but not Threatening Reach...
>Minor: Daily power, assume Form of Mountain's Thunder. For the rest of the encounter, +1 AC and Resist 3 all- once per round when she hits with a melee attack, each enemy marked by her takes 4 thunder damage.
>Move: J17 to I 17, end adjacent to L1
>Free: Mark L1 with Nature's Wrath
>Standard: Attack L1 with Howling Strike, +8 vs. AC=13 (miss) ; rolls Roll Lookup
>AP: Repeat Howling Strike on L1; 1d20+8 vs. AC= 22 (hit, I hope; if so deals 8 damage, and both L1 and the critter Johanna marked last round take 4 thunder damage); roll Roll Lookup
