[Adventure] A Boy and His Dog (DM: stonegod; Judge: r1)

Save Bryan! Round 4

Vimak steps forward. New runes appear around him, this time fire and protection. The flames that burst forward heal his allies, but burn his enemies. The lumbering undead collapses under the brunt, but the smaller dodges the lash.

[Drop L1; miss D2.]

Annoyed that his attacks missed, Elkrysn turns his attention to a different enemy. Moving back up the slope, he calls out to the uninjured zombie. "Think you can just hide back there and attack with your overlarge limbs? Well, how do you like this?" An intensely bright, sparkling beam of light fires towards the undead creature. Although the beam missed its target, the light emanating from it makes the zombie burn in pain, the bright light even moreso.

[Miss; half damage + radiant vulnerability]

Her mind reeling from the tainted creature's assault, Johanna lashed out almost blindly, spinning her lightning-wreathed spear around in a wide circle. One of the creatures was hit solidly enough to be knocked to the ground and cause it too ooze a foul blood, and the other beast took a glancing blow but the lightning seemed to wrap around it for a moment's distraction...

[D1 missed; D2 hit, prone, and bloodied.]

"Hey you rotters, leave her alone!" Torqua calls out to the monsters clawing away at Johanna, the massive mage taking a step back to ready her attack. "Wouldn't you rather something more spicy, like ME?" With a cruel laugh, The Fat Firebreather bellows out a storm of fire on the zombie-like things, but they duck under the blast.

[Miss]

As the foes strike as him and his allies, Lhavarr defends himself as best he can. When he gets a moment respite, the half-elf strikes again, arcane power arcing down the blade. The blast of energy rocks it, allowing his allies to gain upper hand for the moment. Lhavarr then steps back for moment, wiping his boots on the stone to rid himself of the strange ooze.

[Hit; D1 almost down.]

Sapo attempts to trip one of the creatures but again misses her mark. Apparently the bullywug is not on one of her most brilliant days.

[Moved Sapo to where she can attack. Missed.]

The dark caster makes a odd gurgling sound, almost like chuckling. It raises its hand, and a dark radiance gathers around the fallen dead. It stands, reanimated, hunger in its mad eyes.

[L1 reanimated; still bloodied]

Not finished, the robed one steps forward and reaches with its long arms towards the reeling barbarian. At the touch, her minds eye clouds over even has it is filled with pain. All she knows is an uncontrollable hatred of the bardent. Struggling forward, the undead around her pounce in her distracted state. The smaller one sinks its dirty death into her thigh and then dances away, her vitality drained with it; the other also strikes a blow. Even distracted, Johanna deftly stabs Lhavarr, blood flowing from the wound.

[M moves; uses reach touch attack to force Johanna to attack Lhavarr after moving her speed after taking 8 hp. This provokes OAs from D1 & L1; D1 hits for 3 and drains one HS & L1 hits for 3 and marks Johanna. Johanna hits Lhavarr for 8hp; Lhavarr bloodied. Johanna no longer dazed.]

The small, dirty creature continues to strike at Johanna. Its claw scrapes off her armor, this time. The other creature stands.

[D1 misses. D2 stands.]

Reanimated, the tattered dead strikes at the marked Johanna. It however cannot find purchase as it howls in frustration. The other strikes at the goliath, avoiding the magically protected Torqua. The blow strikes across Vimak's neck, drawing his attention.

[L1 misses; Johanna no longer marked. L2 hits Vimak for 7 and marks him.]

The lip is difficult terrain going up and down; an Athletics check (DC Down is 13, DC Up is 19) can be made as part of a move action to make this normal movement.

Big rocks give cover; smaller rubble is difficult terrain. Green blobs are the pustules; walking through them is possible but they grant CA when in them (PCs only). Water is not difficult terrain but it costs 1 extra square of movement to enter/leave it. The lighter stone near the boy/rock looks to be somewhat unsteady.

Red glow is the shard; green cross is the boy. Forgot to put dog on map but he is nearby.[/sblock]

Sapo blinks, assessing the battlefield. She moves toadishly to a strategic position and crouches. Gathering her inner energies, she jumps, from one foe to the other, delivering thundering kicks as she jumps to the next target. After the display, she lands in the original position, and blinks slowly again, looking at the result of her maneuver.

Move to H 14 and then use Masterful spiral (Close burst 2): 18, 21, 18, 16 vs D1, L1, D2 and M reflex for 12 force damage if hits, half if not.

Further frustrated by his aim, Elkrysn turns his cold stare towards the undead necromancer. His stare is more than just appearance, but the ice he meant to encase his foe materializes as harmless snowflakes. Elkrysn spits, "It seems that the chaos that fuels my magic is being thrown off by this taint."

Johanna continued to bleed from numerous wounds- and seemed to ignore them. With a growl, she slogged forward and lashed out with her greatspear- first a distracting jab, then a sweeping slash more suited to a sword. While she seemed unconcerned with her injuries, it was obvious the wounds were slowly her down, and the abominations were able to avoid her attacks...

Save Bryan! Round 5

Sapo blinks, assessing the battlefield. She moves toadishly to a strategic position and crouches. Touching the water, she feels an odd tinge a moment, but then it passes. Gathering her inner energies, she jumps, from one foe to the other, delivering thundering kicks as she jumps to the next target. After the display, she lands in the original position, and blinks slowly again, looking at the result of her maneuver. One of the little undead crumbles under the assault, two others barely holding their ground. However, the spellcaster dodges lithely aside.

His feels strangeness coming from the undead speallcaster...

[Resists affliction. D1 dropped; D2 & L1 hit; M missed. In aura.]

[Miss]

Rattled by the hit and enraged by the hit, Vimak still stands his ground. The rune of the phoenix protects him and his allies, heals Lhavarr and smites the nearest undead thing. It turns to cinder, destroyed!

[Lhavarr healed; L1 down]

The anger of missing her targets gets the better of Torqua as she once again tries to burn the monsters in a spray of fire, only to somehow miss all three of the things once more.

[Miss]

Lhavarr moves toward the deabilitating undead near the middle of the pool, striking with his greatsword. The great blade saps the life from the undead, invigorating his allies to continue their assault. The bardent strikes again, a vibration going down his long blade, affecting the nerves of the strange creature. The creature shrieks, black bile oozing from its wounds. The water feels odd, and being next to it is disorienting...

[Both hit; M bloodied. Now in aura. I need an Endurance check from Lhavarr.]

While she seemed unconcerned with her injuries, it was obvious the wounds were slowly her down, and the abominations were able to avoid her attacks. She too feels the strangeness near the creature

[M marked. Attack misses. In aura]

The last remaining small creature darts away from Torqua and tries to rake the Northern woman. The wound is deep, and she staggers a moment as it slips behind her.

[D2 shifts, attacks and hits J for 11hp, then shifts again to flank.]

The spellcasting creature uses the little one's distraction to clash out with its long fingernails, but Johanna is quick enough this time to push it aside.

[M misses]

Stepping aside its master, the lanky undead continues to assault the glowing goliath. The strength of the blow is absorbed by Vimak's hardened skin, but the wind is still knocked out of him.

[L2 shifts and attacks Vimak; Vimak takes 1 hp after resist and is marked and dazed until L2's next turn ends.]

[Sapo, Lhavarr, & Johanna all take 4 psychic damage at the start of their turns (noted in parens) and suffer -1 to attacks if they remain w/in 2 squares of M at the start of their turn.]
