[Adventure] The Lost Treasure of House Cannith (Judge: Evilbob)

GM: Oooook, Prone ooze it is. This does not automatically end the grab. It would still be best if the rest of you waited until Otakkun clarifies his and the ooze's correct positions. Makes less confusion that way. :D

Round 5:

As the ooze is knocked a little flatter than usual, the surface of the pseudopod encasing Swarmwhisper begins to bubble. A multitude of creatures burst from it in all directions, trailing wisps of burning shadow as the parts of the swarm reform into the treeman form a space further away.

Shaking these last bits of shadow from his afro of leaves, Karananak then points his totem at the swirling darkness and a bitingly cold wind rushes past his impossibly thin limbs, causing the wilden to sway.

The torrent of freezing air crashes into the side of the ooze, drawing it further off of Thalin, before Karananak moves further southeast. He puts significant distance between himself and the rest of the group so that the ooze can't grab any two of them at once again. "I an I ate gettin et. Talways be leavin me in dee fole mood."

GM: nvm. I misread something. I need to know where the ooze was after Kaelan's move before I can assess properly how the druid's move happened.

OOC: I just went off 354B's push that left Karananak adjacent to the ooze. Then I used wild shape (a minor action) to shift another square further away as per your ruling above. That left me 2 spaces away and in wilden form, which makes me undazed and gives me back my standard and move actions for the turn. This lets me use chill wind and move away if I read everything correctly in the previous posts. Though it is possible that I misinterpreted everything as I tend to do that.

GM: I understand what you did, but I cannot actually work off of 354b's positioning of the ooze for assessing your actions. Depending on where Otakkun moved it, things may have been different at the start of your turn and therefore I cannot properly assess your actions and what they resolved as. I cannot even know at this point where the ooze is, and neither can the other PCs. That is why I said it would be best to wait until Otakkun had fixed his positioning of himself and the ooze before acting.

Please do not retract your action, however I cannot tell you what the outcome is (thereby allowing others to properly understand their options) until I know what the correct position was at the end of Otakkun's action. That is all I meant.

Also, please either use sblocks or the new ooc tags for ooc text. Please do not just write "ooc-xyz" in plain text. Thanks.

ETA: Since I'm sure the positions of things are quite confused at this point, I intend to post a mid-round map update once I get the proper coordinates from Otakkun. This should help Mez and Anti properly assess their options and decide on their actions.

GM: [MENTION=10309]Otakkun[/MENTION] G13 is inside the ooze. The ooze occupies F13, G13, F14 & G14 at the start of your turn. Therefore you cannot stand in G13.

Kaelan actually needs to be in either H12, H13, or H14 for his attack to work with that shift. I put him in H12 for the purposes. If you would prefer him to be in one of those two squares, let me know. As the druid slid the ooze NE, you would be adjacent to it unless you are in H14.

Karananak actually could not shift to F11, but since the rest of his move is perfectly valid and there were plenty of other valid targets for the shift, I've updated the map accordingly with him in his declared ending spot. However, he should remain at 23HP because he did not start his turn in the ooze. The shift that occurred with Kaelan's action had already broken the grab on him.

Karananak also should only have attacked at +9, as prone only grants CA for melee attacks and the CA granted by Kaelan is only for his own use. However, the attack is still a hit at a 19.

I attached an updated map as it looks at the end of Karananak's turn.

Colgrave steps closer once more, frowning with annoyance. "Apparently I'm just not a very tempting morsel," he mutters as he levels his staff and fires off another illusory blast of hellfire at the blob of ooze. Once again it proves ineffectual - it seems that the smoke and mirrors approach to sorcery just isn't very well suited to battling near-mindless masses of goo.

[sblock=OOC]Move to -A12 - one square left of A12 - and Phantom Bolt the ooze: 1d20+10=12 :(

Moonstride as a reaction, as last round, if the ooze comes close.[/sblock]

As his comrades batter the ooze off him, Thalin begins to scrape the residual bits of mucus from his face, coughing up a bit of vile phlegm. Definately needs more salt, he mutters as he raises his voice to heavens. He sings a phrase or two, his sword glowing brighter and brighter until beam erupts from the end, piercing through the ooze, illuminating it in a majestic glow. The ooze seems unaffected by the light, yet it lingers, its warm glow encompassing any who strike at it's host.

Thalin then turns and forms the final corner of the square as the groups corrals the disgusting mass.

[sblock=Mechanics]Standard: Stirring Shout: 1d20+8-2=13 2d6+6=16 Miss! Effect still occurs, but no damage. Until the end of the encounter, anyone who hits the ooze heals 4 HP.
