D&D 5E Warlock: Great Old One Patron Familiar

I was thinking to reskin something, and changing it a little, to get a beholderkin.

But a tiny, tiny Elder thing would be nice as well.

But I think my warlock player will choose the Book instead of the Chains, if I can't change his mind :/

What about a book?

edit: If that's too far-fetched, maybe the familiar is a typical (non-magical) one that you shave/pluck and tattoo with insane writings and symbols (that maybe change over time).

Aww, cute!

Crawling Claw would seem to work just fine. Reskin it to 5 tentacles jutting from a slimy ball of goo or simple lump of flesh instead of fingers/a hand. No eyes - though it perceives its surroundings just fine, no mouth -communicates with its warlock via telepathy, etc... Moves around like a hand...but not a hand.

"The hate, jealousy, or greed that drove that person to murder lingers on...amplified by the claw's torturous fragmented state." becomes, "The hate, jealousy and greed that drives a person to murder is amplified in the tentacles' torturous fragmented state [separated from its Far Realm origin]."

Reskinning can be fine (hell, my Weapon and Armour Equivalent documents are all about reskinning!) but in this particular case I wanted options that were actually drawn from Lovecraft and so created same. Use 'em or not, it's no skin off my nose. :)

Now *that* sounds interesting!
