I now have enough applications for all the positions, so if you're one of those - thank you! I now have to pick two editors out of a giant pile. Once those are chosen and the contracts signed, it'll be open season for writing submissions!

I already have a sample article in process. It's one I wrote a long time ago based on a section of Tournaments, Fairs & Taverns. It's a piece on archery contests. Mainly to get a trade dress template down and an example of what an article will look like when complete. I'll probably put it up for free when it's done.

How are you going to handle the 5E License? I dont think you want to sit on 5e Articles until summer. Take a gamble and publish under the OGL? I wouldnt be worried if this was free.. but its subscription based, so there's some ambiguity there.

Curious what the difference between this setup and say just publishing a 5e item under the old OGL would be?

I think I've chosen the Pathfinder editor. Nearly there! Just the 5E one to go.

FYI, there's a typo on the patreon page, you probably mean "fifth edition of the world's best known fantasy RPG", right now it's "best know" ;-)

Looking forward to being able to contribute, this seems like it has a lot of potential.

It is done! I'm just awaiting the return of some contracts and then we start work. Exciting stuff!

For those looking for feedback, here are some of the reasons some folks didn't get picked. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to work with them in future, though!

People I didn't choose:

1) People who said they weren't available immediately
2) People who indicated they were considering applying but didn't
3) People who hinted they might be busy
4) People whose entire email was about 2-lines in length - not that those two lines weren't excellent, but some folks wrote essays!

People I did choose:

1) People who expressed a LOT of enthusiasm for the position
2) People who proactively provided relevant samples

People I wish I could have chosen:

1) A whole bunch of potential editors. There were about a dozen I'd be happy to work with, wrote long, detailed emails, provided samples, and expressed enthusiasm, but only two positions. It wasn't an easy choice at all!

We moved fast! Our first article is done. It's for the TRAILseeker side (Pathfinder) but it should give a good idea of the style and feel we're going for.

I plan to have a few articles ready before launch to offer as free samples.

Email the editor! Everything's in place now; contracts signed, processes worked out, editors and art directors waiting to hear from people!
