D&D 5E Pre-generated characters - a character sheet format question

I'd also suggest including a space for weapon key-words. I know most character sheets seem to omit these, but they probably shouldn't. The "loading" property, in particular, is probably quite important.

Loading is far more important with characters with multiple attacks. Not so important with 1st level characters! I'm cutting out a lot of information because it won't be that important to players in a single session of D&D (while I'm referencing abilities that they'd need when rebuilding/levelling-up characters).

At least, that's the theory. I'll post a couple of variants shortly.

Cheers!

This reminds me, is there a very basic, easy to read character sheet (auto calc preferred) designed for beginners that folks like? I think the basic WotC sheet is OK, but would like something closer to what Merric is doing. Any suggestions?

I do like the idea of listing what a player could do with their action/bonus action/reaction. That's a handy way to for new players to be experts on their character.

Okay, for those who like Bonus Actions to be called out...

Of the three, I find the format in post 15 clearest. I do think the listing of sacred flame under weapon attacks could still be clearer.

Sacred Flame DC 13 Dex save or 1d8 radiant, 60'

is all important information; I'd add a column for types of damage (bludgeoning/radiant/piercing in this case), but it means they can give you the information on what save needs to be made when it happens.

Listing the save DC and the attack bonus with the spell list is less helpful, and not clearly related to anything.

I've got a version that puts the save type and DC in the to hit column. I'm very wary of making the attack line too complicated. The back of the sheet has the spells described in full.

Merric you can use my sheets to make some that look like the old pregen 4e encounter sheets

easiest thing is the copy the slide and edit away. I was going to make some generic ones for AL but never had the time to rip out the non-basic rules stuff, or create a template sheet.

I used these to play with friends who hadn't played 5e and not much 4e. They had no issue with the sheets and actually used the skills very effectively in roleplaying since their was no stat number next to them and they roleplayed since the Inspiration, ideals, bonds and flaws were so important. They really focused on that while looking at the pretty picture. Let me know if you need help editing one. Just duplicate the slides and see if you can edit.
