The trailer had me laughing out loud on a few occasions, which is definitely a positive sign. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.

While the MCU is trying to tie all its superheroes into the same universe, this is trying to do the exact opposite.

Ok look, we have a multi-verse.

We want you to know we can produce a gazillion different versions of the same character, and ALL are legit.

I'm guessing you weren't aware of 220px-Amazing_Spider-Man_vol.3_-9.jpg and Sony's in charge of all independent non-MCU related spider man films.

Both the recent Ultimate Spider-man cartoon and the Spider-man cartoon from the mid 90s did alternate verses of Spider-man...I do feel bad that I didn't know spider-Gwen's name is Spider-Ghost.

EDIT: I would love to find a canvas version of this Spider-Verse_Spider-Men.jpg

... and Sony's in charge of all independent non-MCU related spider man films.

Technically, Sony's in charge of all Spider-Man films. They just have made some deals with Marvel over his use in the MCU, but Sony still technically owns the rights, and they get a lot of $$ from his use in the MCU. As I understand it, Sony is getting the box office for Homecoming and Far From Home, and Marvel gets the merchandising.

Though, there's probably more deal-making that happened for the animated film. Sony bought the rights to Spider-Man back in 1998. I imagine they would have needed to make another deal to use plots and characters created *after* the initial rights sale, and the Spider-verse and Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales are all post-1998.
