Ogham would've cursed, if he ever did, as he hears the ambush spring into action behind him. And here he was, a trained soldier in the Last War, his belly almost to the ground as he peers into a mouse hole...
OOC:
No Reaction either. Just waiting for my turn to act.

Round 1.2
There is no surprise ROUND in 5E, just the surprised CONDITION. It just means you can’t act on your turn, but once your turn passes, you can take REACTIONS. So, say, someone had attacked Alara, she could cast Shield if her turn had passed, but if it hadn’t, she couldn’t even do that much.
Korra charged into the room at the couch, and her battleaxe took the head clean off one of the kenkus.
Rotom followed up by rushing the table, her dagger stabbing into the kenku’s shoulder.
Alara and Ogham shook themselves out of their surprise at the sudden attack.
ROUND 2
The remaining kenku behind the couch dropped his shortbow and pulled out a shortsword, stabbing it over the couch at Korra, getting under her guard to stab her in the gap of her chainmail, though her thick muscle prevented much of the damage.. (Critical 25; 6 damage, nearly minimum damage)
The two kenkus behind the table also switched out to shortswords, stabbing at Rotom. The first stuck her hard, getting in the gap in her armor. (21 to hit; 7 damage), leaving her bleeding badly, barely on her feet. She stumbled back a bit, making the other kenku miss.

Seeing Rotom hard pressed by the two kenku, Alara stepped into the room and gestured. A bolt of flame shot across the room at the injured birdman behind the table.
OOC:
Move inside the doorway and step 1 space E to make sure Ogham has room to get in. Firebolt one of the kenku.
"Xsiol!" Rotom feels the deep sting of a blade. Covered in blood, the kobold presses against the table, and presents the stolen shield, trying to provide enough time for her comrades to swoop into battle.
OOC:
Taking the Dodge Action, and standing fast near the table on the other side of the kenku to use it's cover bonus against them. If they can can hit 20 ac with disadvantage on their attacks, Rotom was going to go down anyway.
Ogham stands up from his prone position, and attempts to grab one of the assaillants with his druidic magics.
The familiar green glow pulses, then a vinelike tentacle erupts from the warforgeds wrist. It shoot forward, but the angle is all wrong, and instead it takes a chunk out of the opened door.
OOC:
Standing up from prone is a move action. My attack is therefore probably just impossible, and the dice agreed. [emoji23]

Round 2.2
Alara stepped into the room and tossed a firebolt at one of the kenkus behind the table, but it splattered against the table as the birdman ducked behind it.
Rotom ducked behind her shield and the table, concentrating on not getting stabbed again.
Korra wasn’t having much luck, either, as she slashed into the couch rather than a kenku.
Ogham entered and tried to catch one of the kenkus with his thorn whip, but missed.
ROUND 3.1
The kenku behind the couch stabbed at Korra, but she managed to parry the shortsword with the handle of her battleaxe.
Behind the table, the healthy kenku attempted to stab Rotom. It looked like the sword went right for her heart, but she dodged out of the way at the last moment (first roll was a crit!)
The other kenku at the table also tried to stab Rotom, but again, the kobold artificer was too quick for them and dodged out of the way.
