The preview is great. Like, really, really good. This is how monster books should be. Not repeating the same things over and over in every block. Different versions of goblins (btw, Nord games books that do this are great, really). Simplified spellcasters. New rules for minions or companions. Lots of really good stuff.

The "you get a lot of bang for your buck" argument cuts both ways. It means my old books still have value...and that they always will. I can still use any RPG book I've ever bought to varying degrees. I can port over 4E mechanics and monsters same as Matt. Sure, not "professionally playtested" whatever that's worth. I'm not knocking his design or the people who think it's worth it. Clearly a bunch of people do. It's already at $385,000. Go MCDM Monster Book. But $70 for hardback. Nah. I'm good.
We sold the Level Up Adventurer's Guide for £40, and it is about 650 pages, and our Monstrous Menagerie is the same price and is 534 pages with 600 monsters. It's totally doable. And they are way bigger than us; I'm sure they can do that just fine.
I love those books. Totally hoping to use them A LOT in my next game.
