Here is what the Kruthik looks like for those who don't know.

Those look like the same creature to me. The first picture is just more animated (and purple instead of green, but they probably have a few shades.)
The top picture is hairier and its chitin no longer looks like a metallic shell - it looks more like insect chitin than metallic chitin, which is what I always assumed the kruthik had. The extended flexible neck along with the tongue and the teeth also make it look like a different monster to me - I've always pictured kruthik as being more beetle-like. In fact at first glance I thought it was a weird neogi, though after my initial kind of surprise I can see how it's a different rendition of a kruthik.

It would be nice to see more of a mix, sure, but kruthiks fulfill a useful niche and are cool in their own right. We just need more insect creatures with different social structures!
Yeah, I like them a lot. While they have a language, they seem to be a suitable kill-on-sight monster with little or no real culture. Basically just smart animals.
