Problem with getting upset with someone presenting opinion as objective proof is there is no way for you to actually tell if they view it as objective or subjective. I think the majority post thier opinions from thier own subjective view. Probably healthier to assume that's what's being done instead of assuming the other without some proof to validate the actual direction.

Did I say most are?
simply poking back exactly the way you did.

your words.

"An awful lot of people play survival video games, where food/water keep you from not dying. They seem to be having fun."

For the record if they love it more power to them. I simply posted my opinion of it. your the one that got all prickly.

Fair enough. People should like what they like, and other people should let them without argument. I just really don't care for statements where opinion is presented as objective truth.
Who do you think is doing this?

FWIW, my impression of this site has been that people here are generally expressing their own personal opinions about the subject at hand unless otherwise noted. Going into threads with that assumption has kept me from making any number of unnecessary negative* assumptions about those around me.
*that would generally end up harming no one but me

The OP has a history of posting onetruewayism and getting really aggressive with anybody who dares to disagree. Does it on Facebook and Discord too. Friends of the site owner so never gets moderated for it.

Also considers us ‘unhinged’ because we didn’t agree.

Are they the best players? Or merely the ones who pay more subscription time because they like to do it hard mode and that takes more time? I think Game companies have a vested interest in rewarding those hard core mode players by selling the myth that they are better. But better at what? pushing buttons and managing resources? I don't think most people care about those things. I supposed it's a point of view thing but it's definitely not the popular way to do anything I know of.
They are playing a game where a single mistake can cause your death and you have to restart from level 1, so they have to be damn near perfect while playing which most consider to be the best.

At the time I felt @nevin Was presenting their feelings about how "everyone" feels about durvival as if they weren't just how they personally feel.

some people insist on presenting opinion as fact.

I hope that's not addressed to me. I think it's pretty clear that:

1. I, specifically, like survival. I've written many words to that effect. I won't say how many hours I've sunk into Valheim but a non-trivial amount.

2. Many people do not like survival. There opinions are valid but when a massive Kickstarter like MCDM says "we won't do exploration", as a selling point. It's worth addressing what the term exploration means.

With the right language people can discuss a thing. My analysis is my own. At the bottom of every piece I've written I've indicated that my words are my own. I won't argue from authority so if you agree with them that's great. If you don't that's your choice. But at least there's a method of parsing exploration as a multifaceted and distinguishable thing as opposed to the nebulous lump of a pillar.

I never meant you, to be fair.
