I'm starting to see advertising using the tariffs as a marketing tool. Kraken Dice is offering a 25% off using Tariffs as a discount code. Maybe the whole thing is designed to make the rich MORE rich. Nah, our government wouldn't scam us like that...

Retailers are desperately trying to boost their incomes before tariffs strangle their supply or shut their businesses down.

As for Courtney Ryan, I found her videos thanks to the TT algorithm. I was already watching a lot of videos from certain people posting about style & fashion (pros & industry vets, not amateur “influencers”), and her vids popped up in she suggestions for certain videos.

Initially, I was just watching her style vids, but some had crossover into behavior/dating. So I keep watching.

I heard an announcement that there could be tariffs on movie made outside of the US, even by US filmmakers filming in other countries.

I followed the link the other day, and noticed a video from her I had seen before. I subscribed. Maybe I'll learn something. lol

The whole tariffs thing is being pushed by people with a (not so) hidden agenda and an extremely poor grasp of economics.

This is like Highlander meets Star Wars. I would love to be a passerby while something like this was happening.

I made the argument that access to information is protected by the 1st amendment. This was an argument against a bill in Texas restricting access to certain information. I had two people argue that it doesn't protect access.
Stanley vs Georgia and Packingham vs North Carolina seem to differ.
I intend to use these as precedent set by the Supreme Court.
One of the two often dismisses things I say as "opinion" even if it's backed up with facts. He refuses to accept the facts or admit he's wrong.

What is the point of free speech if no one can read it or hear it? It makes no sense to say access to information is not protected.
The counter was "if it was protected then they couldn't take books (ban them) out of libraries, but they do it all the time." I say he's right. It's called censorship and it's wrong. lol

Here’s some ammo for you:

TL;DR, the SCOTUS has ruled that most book bans are constitutional, but like any case involving speech, there are exceptions. Those exceptions are limited to things like “pervasive vulgarity” and “unsuitability for purpose”.

That latter one would cover mis/disinformation, but not “messages you don’t like”.

After watching a video about vocal fry, I'm hearing it EVERYWHERE! The next video was a video of two AI debating the existence of God and it was judged by other AI. The AI voices for both debaters showed signs of vocal fry.
It's been going on for decades, if not for centuries. And now it's infected artificial voices.

I’ve noticed more ads are popping up with realistic-sounding artificial voiceovers. I can’t say I’m picking up on ALL of them, but it’s a dead giveaway when they mispronounce simple words native speakers simply wouldn’t screw up.

For instance, I’ve seen a particular commercial for a new pool-cleaning robot that includes a spokesperson talking about how good a job it does doing XYZ. Except instead of the normal short o pronunciation of “job” (“jahb”), the word is pronounced with a long o sound (“jobe”).
