Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

Hey folks, I've spun this off into its own thread from this one. A few things I really like about WFRP Which incidentally is a thread full of reasons why you should give WFRP a go.

So I've set up the Ubersreik Adventures Campaign - an episodic serial campaign with a set of adventures from the Starter Set, Ubersreik Adventures 1, 2 and 3 and the Rough Nights and Hard Days compilation. Each adventure is expected to take 2 x 3 hour sessions and players can jump in, do an adventure, see if they like it, then jump out. Returning if their time and circumstances allow. XP for new characters will be based off the comparative level of the party and you can switch out characters for a new character after each adventure giving you chance to try some different character types.

Full disclosure this is a paid campaign at $15 a session but that will include all the rules for the game accessed from the Foundry (About $700 of content) plus all the maps, music etc. Also worth noting that it being a paid session means that its my job to help the players have a fun experience. You folks come first. If you are philosophically opposed to paid campaigns that ok, I would totally understand that this might stop some people taking part in something they would otherwise try. Hopefully $30 for 6 hours entertainment and everything in between, doesn't exclude everyone. Feel free to comment on the premise of the campaign though even if you aren't playing. The plus is there just so it doesn't turn into a debate about the morality of paid DMing.

My big question which I would love to hear feedback on is - would a weekly game or a fortnightly game make it easier for people to take part? In other words, which is more convenient for people? Two weeks consecutively then or every other week? I'm happy to go with either and can change the format on the site to fit. My gut feeling is fortnightly.

I think it is a great idea for a campaign. The time zone difference makes it impossible for me to join on a weekday. Also, I can't commit to a regular campaign. But I'm following you on StartPlaying. If you ever run a weekend game as a one-shot or are okay with drop-in players, I'll love to join the occasional session.

So interestingly this has filled up now to 5 players which is great. But I was surprised how many folks from over the pond have shown interest. Starting at 8pm BST was always trying to cater to both the America’s and Eastern Europe and probably risking totally satisfying neither so if folks would try it if it was 3 hours later… or would prefer an hour earlier I would split the group in two and run a later session for the americas as well. It’s the beauty of a fortnightly game. Hopefully that caters better for people

Full disclosure: Rob aka @TheSword is a great friend and gaming buddy of many years.
I have had the pleasure of GM-ing for a group including Rob, and he's a joy as a player, but this thread is about Rob as a GM.
He is truly awesome; Rob creates vivid and engaging campaigns, including well-run adventures, exciting combats, appropriate pace and superb role-play situations. I have been privileged, over more than two decades, to play in many of his games, and enjoyed every single one.
I 100% recommend this campaign to anyone, especially anyone looking to experience the wonderful Old World of Warhammer.
