I'm not sure I understand why Spaceship Zero and Unknown Armies were nominated for anything. Neither of these are d20 games, though they are produced by companies that make d20 products.

Not that they (UA, at least; I don't own SZ) don't rock, but the Ennies are all about d20, right?

Nope. The non-open category is open to everyone. Considering the number of entries we received there, it was obvious that not everyone was aware of that. Consider this your wake up call. :)

If I have anything to do with next year's ennies, you will see the non-open category broadened...

Two nominations-- and I wasn't even going to enter this year!

Oh, the shame! Wulf Ratbane, ENWorld's favorite dwarf, gets nominated twice - for a book about elves!

No, no, what I meant was, the voting process that will be used by the fans to keep from splitting the vote on a company with two nominations in one category.

It's going to work differently this year. People will be "rating" each product out of 10 in each category, and selecting "Don't Know" for a product they are not familiar with.

You never know. Maybe there's a special category for perfumed foppery.

Wow, what a great list of products! Lots of stuff from publishers we don't necessarily hear about much in the d20 news but evidently they're producing top-notch products. I think that's one of the great aspect of the judging process -- it helps uncover previously-unknown gems.

Now's the time to start doing your research. Take a trip to your FLGS with the list of nominees and browse through the ones you're not familiar with. Read reviews. Download free products and/or previews, look at websites. I defended the idea of the EN World public vote from one or two folks who thought the public wasn't qualified -- and now it's time for you to pull together all you've learned about d20 products over the past year and become an informed voter. I firmly believe there's no one better qualified to judge this than the regular visitors to EN World! :)

Man, I seriously need to be a judge for the ENnies, since I'm not doing much as a voter. I don't own any of the products nominated, so I'll only be able to vote on the cover at (can we get higher-res versions?).

This brings up an interesting point, because unlike the other products in the category for which I was nominated, I have a "free trial" of my product, giving people a chance to explore it without buying it. I wonder if some of the other nominations, in various categories, will put out larger 'samples' of their work.

On the other hand, many have other resources, other products on the market, that may give them different forms of recognition.

Absolutely! Perhaps on a seperate thread somewhere for nominees we could post where to locate our products? I see several (Gamer's Satchel, for example) I don't know how to go about finding it... Retail stores? Mail order? Ebay?

There are many amazing products out there and reading through them really made me realize that the d20 market is still ripe with solid designers, writers, and ideas. I'm very ploeased that I was able to find some great books that I wouldn't have normally looked at.
