The Kansas City Chiefs posted an interesting video over the weekend, featuring six of their defensive players playing Dungeons & Dragons. The video, Dungeons & Defense, was posted over the weekend and has racked up over 29,000 views as of Monday morning. The video features Chris Jones, Mike Pennel, George Karlaftis, Derrick Nnadi, Mike Danna, and Ashton Gillotte in a session led by veteran Actual Play performer Anna Margaret in a homebrew session. The session itself follows typical D&D tropes - six adventurers enter a tavern and are tasked with retrieving a magical orb stolen from a sect of clerics. The full video can be found below.

The NFL and TTRPGs have had a series of recent crossovers. The Cleveland Browns had a well-documented game of D&D going for several years featuring defensive star Myles Garrett. The ringleader of that group, Johnny Stanton IV now produces tabletop RPG content. Additionally, former Dallas Cowboys player Travis Frederick co-founded Demiplane.

Ticket to Ride and Azul are her go tos. Love Letter once in a while. We are also diving into the "Murder mystery in a box" genre that's gotten pretty big at Barnes and Noble.

Little indie guy who got very lucky with a fun IP. The artist is a joy to work with.

Azul is a good one. I don't get to play boardgames that often... I have a retired former neighbour who invites me to a games night the handful of times a year they host one.

I still feel the Nerd Shame and wouldn't tell anyone at my work I play D&D......
Very much the same. In the military I was one of the "D&D and Comic Nerds". We learned to keep it to ourselves.

I have one person that is extremely open about it but he's like 20 years younger than me. He gets very detailed about it regardless of whose around. I kind of admire that. I can't do it. Ive asked him not to talk about D&D when we're in public spaces.

I'll talk about D&D for hours with people I know have an interest. But in public I wont talk about it. My friend has no filters and will get to the real nitty gritty of the campaigns. I tell him we need to move to my classroom.

I dont like revealing I play D&D to normies especially people I've been working with for 25 years.

I coach the Esports team and thats about as far i reveal to the staff. I mean I teach a molecular biology course they know im a math science nerd but that's easy to wear like a badge of honor.

The rest strangers dont need to know.

The first time I saw MTG was at Eagle Base in Bosnia. Any time you have people isolated and bored, looking for entertainment, you're going to find people turning to entertain yourselves hobbies. The internet probably has certainly lowered the number of people who need to turn to card and roleplaying games, when it's available, but it's still not surprising that professional sports players seeking to stay out of the kinds of trouble that professional sports players find themselves in might turn to D&D in their hotel rooms.

And I get that some of you had really bad experiences growing up -- I had a few unpleasant ones -- but those were decades ago. Being mad at someone who wasn't born until decades later is extremely irrational and the exact sort of prejudice that you're upset about.

I didn’t get into Christianity until college. I had never considered joining the military until my pastor talked it up. I never played D&D until I got to my unit. I remember wanting my character to be able to be a Christian. Started exiting Christianity when an Army friend leant me Atlas Shrugged. I’ve now exited my agnostic phase and worship Titania.

I bring up D&D all of the time at work and my coworkers will now bring it up as well. One year, a coworker friend, who doesn’t play D&D, dressed up as an elf on Halloween. Years later during COVID I finally realized she had been dropping hints. Love my negative infinity Insight modifier.

Less into sports these days, but love that these guys play and aren’t embarrassed about it. Re: Taylor Swift, I’m hopeful there is a version of her in my heaven that I hope exists.
