Geez, maybe it would have been better to recast an actor who actually, you know, wanted to be there?
Exactly. Someone who’d actually want to do this, has been to acting classes, put the work in, etc - they’d probably be being pushed by their parents too (like the HP kids) but at least they’re not getting their first acting job on enforced nepotism. It’s all a bit Brooklyn Beckham, and we can see how that’s turning out.

And why did they think it was a good idea to talk about this? “We had to bribe our 13-year old with a new motorbike?” So relatable!

while not the same level as a motorbike, my SiL has had to bribe my nieces and nephew to get them to do things. My ex has also had to bribe our son to get him to do things. So while the reward isn't the same bribing kids to do things is relatable.

And if you read the article she didn't realize she was getting paid, and she had a billie ellish concert she wanted to go to.

The article is basically dad gets his teen to do something.

“She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?'” Chris remembered. “I was like, ‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”

My nephew is saving up for his own dirt bike, (i believe he already has enough) via doing stuff either via his pet sitting gig or other things like chores and such.

Strange takeaway.

And how is it bribing when it is her money? Like did yall read the article fully?

Sure, teens are grumpy and uncooperative. I’m just questioning the wisdom of whether using a grumpy and uncooperative teen is going to make for a good movie. Versus hiring someone who is interested and invested.

She didn’t even know if she was getting paid? This is not someone who spent anytime thinking about this. This very much sounds like Hemsworth driving it, and the studio not wanting to piss off Hemsworth.

Yeah, I read it. It’s not the bribe. It’s the fact she clearly had no interest in being there. I’m not trying to mountain this molehill, but I can’t help but think her acting isn’t going to be exactly top notch.

People go to work and do a good job when they don't want to be there all the time, including teenagers.

Heh…I must be bored, I have no idea why I picked this windmill today…

Sure. But she was ready to quit after one take, and had to be bribed to get back on the set. Maybe she’ll still do a good job. But I still think hiring a dedicated actor would probably provide a better one. If she doesn’t want to be there, hire someone who does.
