Yeah, I read it. It’s not the bribe. It’s the fact she clearly had no interest in being there. I’m not trying to mountain this molehill, but I can’t help but think her acting isn’t going to be exactly top notch.

She had a concert she wanted to attend an wasn't sure she'd make it in time. Hell, even if i knew i was going to get paid I'd still be worried about the concert lol

While I think it’s clear that hiring another actor - literally any other suitable actor - would probably have made for a better scene and film and would probably have been cheaper, what I think is weird is that they publicised it happening.

It’s framed as an “aren’t we relatable normal people” snippet but I don’t think it’ll go down that way. In these days of social media that doesn’t seem wise, and it doesn’t seem wise to put your 13yo in the public eye for people to have opinions about her. Unless they’re trying to get out in front of something, it seems an odd choice and not very self-aware.

Geez, maybe it would have been better to recast an actor who actually, you know, wanted to be there?

it's for a minimal role and doesn't seem any different than many teenagers. And given that he's in the film and there to protect her and everything that's come out about child actors, I'd rather the actor be protected as a part of them wanting to please the main actor than it to be some unknown caught up in the jaws of the Hollywood machine.

Such a strange take to me. I don't know how many "can you believe these kids?" stories I have told over the course of my kids' lives, but it is a lot. This is perfectly normal behavior, for everyone involved.

True. But for me, there’s a difference between “You wouldn’t believe what it took to get my kid to cut the grass” and saying the same thing for a professional acting job in a movie likely costing hundreds of millions of dollars.

I guarantee you, many of the best performances happen on days the actor wants to be literally anywhere else. This gives us no insight on any level into what the performance will be.

I think it’s different to tell that story to your friend down the pub than to tell it to a hired publicist who will then write an article about it which will then be discussed by millions of people on social media for a few days.

This story reminds millions of people that India Rose Hemsworth exists and that you can have an opinion about her, and will almost guarantee that some people will be very rude about her online where she and her family can see it. That is a heck of a risk to take.

If I were the Hemsworths I would do nothing at all to remind the world that our children exist, actively suppressing all mention of such where possible, until they were at least in their twenties. How that would work for their own social media, I’m not sure, but it’s a well trodden path for some celebrities, while others have taken a more public route, grooming their children to have future careers in the public eye. I guess the Hemsworths are going with that option; I hope it works out well for them.
