D&D General Describe your eldritch blast to me

My undead warlock threw blue-flamed screaming skulls at her foes.

Gebnerally, I think of eldritch blast as being a mechanical representation of the rays Doctor Strange uses in old comics, like this:



But I had a PC GOO warlock who followed Shub-Niggurath, the Lovecraftian embodiment of untamed and unstoppable nature and growth, and that character's eldritch blast manifested as a mess of branches, leaves, and vines bursting forth from the target's body. That was a cool visual.

A while back, I played a changeling warlock. I would alter the description of their eldritch blasts to thematically match whatever appearance they had at the moment.

With the one Warlock I have played (GOO), I described it as ropes of purplish energy that pulsed along the flow of the blast.

For my fathomless warlock, it's tentacles. Everything spell is tentacles with a side of slime and horror.

Her patron is in a dimension just adjacent to her at all times, watching over her and an egg she carries. He power is just opening cracks in reality so the beast can momentarily reach though.

One of my characters wears a wide brimmed slouch hat and a great coat made of living shadow, his eldritch blade is a broadsword formed from shadow and his eldritch blast is the cloak billowing around him and whipping out in long tendrils. The shadow cloak also makes great fx for darkness, blur and misty step

The mini I used for the first warlock character I played was doing a little hand gesture - kind of like the “rock on” hand gesture, with the pinky and index finger extended, but pointing forward instead of up. I imagined this being the somatic component he performed for his Eldritch Blast, and that a beam of energy shot from each of those extended fingers, which then twisted around each other in a double-helix pattern as it traveled towards the target.

My warlock (a couple campaigns ago) made Int his dump stat. His patron was a Great Old One. He studied with his brothers at his monastery, The Order of Alms Omnibus, and called himself a monk. In short, he was one of those Eldritch cultists you always hear about. But like any good cultist, he didn't know he was in a cult.

Because he thought he was studying as a monk, he believed all of his powers came from meditation and focusing his ki (which he pronounced "chai"). He kept a special pouch filled with small pebbles he called "Soma Stones". He would collect these during the day and sleep with them at night to imbue them with his chai. Then he would throw them at enemies while focusing his chai. This was how he used his Eldritch Blast.

To him, it looked like the pebbles would glow as he focused his chai into them, and his training gave him unerring aim and power to throw them. To others, it just looked like he was hurling glowing balls of energy at his enemies.

When I saw this picture in this thread, I was thinking you were about to say your Warlock’s EB resembled shots from a Colt 45, akin to the classic D&D character, Murlynd.

Considering I played a Gnome Ranger in Spelljammer based on The Lone Ranger,* if I ever play another Warlock, I might just go that route myself.






* he rode a giant space hamster named Mithril, and was armed with twin repeating hand crossbows loaded with silver-tipped bolts.

Why describe it, when . . .



. . . I can just agree that @Remathilis has it right? Skulls are the way to go. I think it's Doom-inspired for me.
