UPDATE: Modified the Armor Plating entry to be more balanced and updated the file.
This is the first game-mechanic type thing I've tried creating, so PLEASE let me know what you all think, I'm really looking for some feedback to make sure I'm not creating anything too crazily under- or overbalanced, or if anything doesn't make sense or seems broken. And if you like it, use it in your game and tell me if it ends up being useful or fun!
A little backstory: A player in my group rolled the "parchment depicting a complex mechanical contraption" entry on the Trinkets table a while back when he made his character. Our last session he asked me what was on it, and I had no answer yet, and figured I should get working on one for him. This is basically the "hidden blade" from the Assassin's Creed video games, but with an additional mini crossbow variation and several upgrades and modifications able to be added on. Another member of the party has proficiencies in glassblowing and tinkering, and should be able to create some of the required components and complete final assembly of the devices, but the other pieces will have to be traded for by finding skilled laborers who can craft them. You will notice there are slight mark-ups on the prices of items already found in the Player's Handbook (and Basic Rules), this is because they have to be customized or modified versions of the standard models to be able to work with the devices.
