Barbarian rage already resembles the lycanthropic transformation; modern fiction rarely has someone transform into a calm, peaceful beast-person. Kind of as a thought experiment, I decided to see what kind of tweaks would be needed to create a lycanthrope primal path.

It turned out much better than I expected. Mechanically, the barbarian already has most of what they need to seem were-wolfish. For a while I worried that it was overpowered, since barbarian primal paths tend to be more subtle and flavorful. But then I re-read the primal paths in Xanathar's, and now I don't worry about that any more.
