D&D 5E Basic Game cover mockup

I really like the mockup covers. Now this is what I want to see more of - scenes of action and adventure, not some characters standing around trying to do kewl posses (i.e. the 4e PHB covers).

Which 'foreign' languages have seen D&D?

I lived in Japan for sometime and have a Japanese 3e PHB. 3.5 and 4e were also translated in Japanese. Apparently, the company Hobby Japan handled the license. (http://www.hobbyjapan.co.jp/dd/)

D&D 5E The Race Docket: What Races do you want to see first for 5e?

Definitely gnomes! I was a little disappointed that gnomes didn't make the cut in the first 4e PHB. I don't really care for dragonborn or tieflings. I'm fine if they make it into the PHB, but not at the expense of gnomes.

    D&D 5E Art in 5e...?

I don't know about the artwork overall, but I really like the art for the covers of the D&D next books. This is what I've been looking for - adventurers in action, not characters standing around doing ridiculous poses with their weapons.

    D&D 5E Art in 5e...?

Regardless of the artist, art in 5e needs to evoke adventure. We need more illustrations of characters in action or in some type of a setting. I really don't want any more illustrations of characters standing around in 'cool' poses and trying hard to look bad@$$.

    D&D 5E Simulation vs Game - Where should D&D 5e aim?

Instead of the term 'simulation', perhaps 'story' would be more appropriate. I am not thinking about whether the rules are attempting to simulate anything resembling 'realistic', but rather if they allow the DM to create an interesting fantasy story. On the other hand, we see things that...

    Devil worship as a brand

"Devil worship as a brand"!? Well, I suppose that the moral panic of the 1980's did boost sales, but I would rather not go back to those days. I remember hearing about kids in high school whose parents didn't want them to have anything to do with D&D because it was 'satanic'.

    D&D 5E Art in 5e...?

Admittedly, that is one thing that I never liked about Pathfinder. The art in all the books is very much 'comic book' style with everything really over the top. I guess some people like it, but I never cared for it.

    D&D 5E Art in 5e...?

So the question is, what direction should art and the general look of 5e take? I realize that art is very subjective and what one person is looking for in art may not necessarily be what another person is looking for. Still, I am curious what the ENWorlders here are looking for when it comes...

    D&D 5E Simulation vs Game - Where should D&D 5e aim?

That's true. It is a little problematic to simply use the word simulation. (Hence my use of quotation marks around the word simulation.) I suppose it's a 'simulation' of the reality found in legends and fantasy fiction. Or perhaps a better way to put it would be an emphasis on telling a good...

    D&D 5E Simulation vs Game - Where should D&D 5e aim?

Lately, I've been thinking about the issue of D&D as a 'simulation' vs. D&D as a game. In other words, how much the rules should aim at 'simulating' a fantasy story versus how much the rules should aim at creating a balanced game, regardless of believability. Of course, I suppose the term...

    D&D 5E D&D / WotC and GenCon

Although I'm a little disappointed that we won't see D&D 5e released at GenCon, I would rather see Wizards work on the game and edit the books rather than rush everything to make the GenCon deadline.

What is the right level of magic in your campaign setting?

I prefer a lower level of magic in my settings. When magic gets too common it tends to lose its mystery and comes to be seen as another form of technology. However, I know that some people tend to run settings with more magic, so overall I would prefer D&D rulebooks and adventures to not...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

I understand that point. As I said, I understand that Paizo wants to make a generic setting that can accommodate different play styles. However, I don't think that Golarion is that good of a kitchen sink setting. I've seen better generic settings that have a little more thought put into them...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

That is another problem I've had with Pathfinder. This doesn't affect the core rules that much, but all the published adventures and adventure paths explicitly use Golarian as the setting. I have never cared for the default Golarian setting because it seems like a mishmash of different generic...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

From what I've seen in Pathfinder, I haven't found a huge amount of rules that are clearly 'broken'. However, there are several things that I dislike about the game because they seem extremely 'over the top' and 'metagame'. For example: 1. Barbarian Rage Power: So a barbarian can gain the...

WotC D&D Brand Content - What can be used?

I have been getting interested in 'Old School Revival' games recently. I started to think of ways to convert some of my old 2nd Edition material to Castles and Crusades and found myself adding rules to emulate the NonWeapon Proficiencies and characters kits rules prevalent in 2nd edition...

D&D 5E Are you ready for a new edition of D&D?

I'm ready for a new edition. I was sort of disappointed by 4th edition. Likewise, I didn't like the way Pathfinder took 3/3.5e. I liked what I saw from the play test materials, so I would say that I'm ready.
