Players and the Quicken Spell-like ability feat

I've seen a half-fiend/dragon with this feat in an adventure. It was clearly stated that it could use its "demonic" SLAs with this feat. I agree with this. Maybe one could limit this to racial SLAs, in contrast to SLAs gained through feats or class abilities?

Players and the Quicken Spell-like ability feat

Munchkin of the day: Half-Dragon Psion or Psychic Warrior with the Quicken Spell-like ability feat. Psionic powers are spell-like abilities, so every power can be used as free action.

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

Officially, you can do a sneak attack with a ranged attack spell. See Tome and Blood, pg 79. In general, it works just like a sneak attack with a regular ranged weapon. Though, I did not find a clear reference, whether a touch attack is sufficiently, or a regular attack is necessarily. The only...

    Repairing Broken Magic Items

You can mend a broken magic item. That's mentioned in the descriptions of Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item. You can repair the item for half cost (gold, XP, time). According to this, a broken magic item is worth half that of a intact one. For example a +2 holy greatsword -...

Whats the 2nd most important attribute for a Sorcerer

Spell-boosting your Con is asking for trouble. For a wounded PC with an Endurance spell running, Dispel Magic might be a kill spell. Spell-boosting Dex is safer, IMO.

Spellcraft Check on making Magic Items

Playbalance reasons. If a player would try to create an item, pays money and XP and fails the Spellcraft check, the item, money and XP would be ruined. This would be no fun and had two results in the long run: No Player would ever create an item, or wait until he always passes this check...

Is there a feat to allow a bard to raise the bonus on his Inspire Courage ability?

There is a first level spell called Harmony in MoF. It does exactly this.

    [NWN] Feat selection

I just finished the game with a pure wizard. Metamagic Feats: Empower, Quicken, Extend Spell I actually used only Empower. For Fireball, Flame Arrow and Cone of Cold. I had Boots of Speed 'til the end, thus no need for quickened Haste. Spell Focus: Necromancy, Evocation, Enchantment...

Is Wall of Thorns subject to damage reduction?

If it allows SR, then it is definately a spell effect and is not subject to DR. If it doesn't allow SR (as Wall of Thorns) then it is often a physical effect, and is subject to DR. IMO, apply the DR to the damage. Remember, Wall of Thorns deals 25 points of damage per round minus the...

    NPCs and Exp. Cost

You could assume, that everyone (NPC) earns a (small) amount of XP just by living his daily life. That way, the existence of mid- to high-level non-combat sages, spellcasters, commoners etc. would be justified. Remember, CR, XP and EL are made to advance player characters.

    spell damage 1d8/level question

The closest existing spell is Flame Arrow. It does roughly 1d6/level damage (on average a little bit less than that), medium range, ranged touch attack roll and allows a reflex save for half damage. Your Electric Bolt is a little bit better than that: always 1d8/level and electrical instead of...

    New spells known for sorcerers

You meant Divine Oracle (Defenders of the Faith), didn't you? You'd get the Divination Prestige Domain, Evasion and Uncanny Dodge. Other powerful prestige classes include Arcane Devotee (FRCS), Incantatrix (MoF), Archmage (FRCS) and Virtuoso (S&S).

    Raven Familiar and magic Wands

IMO, a familiar can't use trained-only skills. The PHB says: "Use the normal skills for an animal of that type or the master's, whichever are better." So the familiar can use the master's skill ranks, but doesn't have them. Some DMs may allow a familiar to use the master's Tumble/Use Magic...

DM Question: How can I keep my players from taking 3 days to check a room?

Thorough searching (Taking 20) of a 20' x 30' room (10' high) takes 80 minutes for the walls, 48 minutes for the floor and 48 minutes for the ceiling. A quick search (Taking 10) of the same room takes 4 minutes for the walls, 2:24 minutes for the floor and 2:24 minutes for the ceiling. If more...

I don't understand deities' spontaneous casting

Actually, their very high SR makes gods some kind of easier to fight in melee, compared to fighting a god by spells. That's true even for god vs. god.
