Rouge sneak attack with any weapon

Hey even back in 1st ed AD&D a half-orc fighter/thief or fighter/assassin could backstab with a two-handed sword. Also, the swashbuckler archetype gives a rogue access to one martial weapon, which could be greatsword.

The most character-less character you've ever played?

I played a "servant" character in a Dark Heresy battle while waiting for my main character to heal up or get out of prison, I can't remember which.

    Invisible Edlritch Glaive Lock

I learned something new today. I had assumed that one had to be LE to be a hellfire warlock, but apparently one can be any alignment, including CG.

    Tiefling babies

If a human and a tiefling have a child the child is a tiefling. Can an elf and a tiefling have a child? Can an eladrin and a tiefling have a child? In either case would the child be a half-elf or a tiefling? (I am thinking of a tiefling that is fey-pact, but might also have a fluff-based...

How come no one's publishing the old Corebooks?

I don't think it would work with the corebooks, for reasons stated above, unless one had absolutely Kick Ass art. And maybe some godlike lay-out and organization that makes people go "woah". As a very minor part of an example of the latter, putting the non-epic feats from the epic players...

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

Bruce Baugh tells me to boycott his stuff because I like Hackmaster? How dare he! I shall deliberately thwart Bruce's will by continuing to buy stuff by Bruce that I like! Take that, Bruce! :)

    A New Monster Idea

It is a cool idea. We did it in our campaign a while back too.

    warlock prestige classes

There is also the "make anything" build of Warlock 12/ Chameleon 2. The latter gets a switchable floating feat, which can be any of the "craft magic item" feats.

You don't play 4E, but what did they get RIGHT?

I liked that you could play "monster" races from level 1, with no ECL worries.

    Support caster?

I agree with cleric. You might want to choose particular domains that give you more options, like the Magic domain if it is allowed by your DM (so now you can use sorcerer wands, for example, and a few sorcerer spells (useful if the game has no wizards!)).

D&D 3E/3.5 Barbarian Rage, or whirling Frenzy 3.5 advice

I would favour Whirling Frenzy just from a pc management point of view, so I don't have to keep track of hit points that aren't. If I have only my real hit points to keep track of, I have a better sense of how my character is doing, and am less likely to get that character killed.

    Fear Mr. Whiskers!

I just got The Noble Wild, an updated-to-Pathfinder supplement for playing any of 65 intelligent animal species, large or small. So should I play a cat rogue or a cat inquisitor? :)

    What would you buy?

lots and lots of expendable hirelings? :)

Taking 10 on charisma checks when distracted

So far, it seems that I can take 10 on charisma ability checks, but nothing has come up to allow me to do so when distracted or threatened. Ah well. I was hoping for a cheap way to save some grief for someone casting a Planar Binding spell, where it says that rolling a 1 (which to me means...

Taking 10 on charisma checks when distracted

Is there a feat or other ability or magic item that allows one to "take 10" on charisma ability checks even when one is threatened or distracted?

    Do Malconvokers eventually get eaten?

taking 10 on charisma checks when distracted Is there a feat or other ability or magic item that allows one to "take 10" on charisma ability checks even when one is threatened or distracted?

    Do Malconvokers eventually get eaten?

Again, specific trumps general. It is not normally possible to critically fail on a charisma check. It is, however, possible to have Bad Things Happen if you roll a 1 on a charisma check when casting one of the Planar Binding spells, regardless of how high your charisma is. This might not...

    Do Malconvokers eventually get eaten?

Hmmmmmm. Well, as long as the player knows that going in, I suppose. It does add a certain poetry to the class, or at least poetic justice. :)

    Do Malconvokers eventually get eaten?

Specific trumps general. From the SRD on lesser planar binding: "If you roll a 1 on the Charisma check, the creature breaks free of the binding and can escape or attack you." Planar Binding, Lesser :: d20srd.org So now that that is out of the way, am I right? Does the Malconvoker eventually...

    Do Malconvokers eventually get eaten?

It seems that Malconvokers get all sorts of bonuses with respect to summoning and planar binding evil creatures, but nothing that removes that pesky 5% chance of the fiend breaking out and ruining the Malconvoker's afternoon (and maybe afterlife). A natural 1 on the charisma check to make a...
