The best value in gaming is gone...

I have a different perspective. I have bookshelves so laden with gaming books that the shelves bow. When I had to move quickly after a calamity last year, I had no choice but to leave books behind because the strong people required to move them were too tired to lift the hundred-pound boxes. On...

The best value in gaming is gone...

D&D Insider is run by the same company who successfully ran Dungeon/Dragon before Paizo, and the adventures will be written by many of the same people who contributed to Dungeon/Dragon. I imagine the quality will be much of the same. Only the brand and format will be different.

The best value in gaming is gone...

Pathfinder is $20 per month for one adventure and some supplemental material. GameMastery is $13 per month for another adventure. D&D Insider is $10 per month for three adventures plus more supplemental material than anyone will know what to do with. We are also being given 8 months of it for...

Unearthed Arcana 4E: RACIAL LEVELS..how similar are they to Unearthed Arcana?

The article on races says that the idea was dropped in favor of racial feats and racial substitution level-type options.

OGL for 4th is still in? or out?

Did you read the other thread? During the countdown to the announcement, after WotC had "accidentally" opened the 4E forums and given away what was going to be announced, Joe Browning (of Expeditious Retreat Press) posted that, based on some information he had as a publisher, he believed 4E was...

All of that was fabricated, you know.

    Gargantuan Orcus at GenCon

When "gargantuan orcus" was reported, someone from WotC said that there was an error in the product description. Apparently not- unless the prototype is larger than the final version, the figure really pushes even gargantuan dimensions. It's spilling over the base practically everywhere.

    The big announcement: 4dventure

I expect tomorrow those forums will be reopened, and since there's a spot dedicated to 4E OGL discussion it seems likely.

    The big announcement: 4dventure

That's not apparent to me at all. One of the 4E threads before the forum was locked was "OGL/d20 License". Although I can't bring up the thread now, the hover text was "Here's the place to share thoughts on the Open Game License under 4E." So the only evidence I've seen is directly to the contrary.

    Forniture book?

Mage Knight Dungeons had some furniture packs for their 3D Dungeons line, although I think Mage Knight proportions are slightly larger than 25/28mm scale. I remember seeing some at Icon USA, looks like they're still there: http://www.iconusa3.com/online/mk_dungeons_artifacts.html For a little...

    Experiences with Monster Manual V

Great thread, I'm running Eyes of the Lich Queen right now and looking for a monster to replace the final encounter.

    eberron poster map?

Be careful when you take poster maps to a print shop for lamination. Some places only do thick laminations of poster map dimensions, and those aren't intended for use with photo paper. It will cover the map with wrinkles and may bunch up or tear. I recommend running test paper through the...

RAISE DEAD: get rid of it and make D&D better

You might think so, but it's the same even when we play differently, with fewer books and PCs joining a level behind. The only compromise is in the enjoyment of players who spend money on books, and those who want to change out a character they're no longer happy with. The point where...

RAISE DEAD: get rid of it and make D&D better

I can't remember the last time a PC was brought back to life. It's much more tempting for players to create a new PC, put the sourcebooks that've come out recently to use, and avoid the cost and level loss that raising involves. If anything, I'd like raising to be more accessible and less...

D&D combat without minis - is it possible?

AoOs are not complicated. There is an enemy, and he threatens within a certain area- usually, 5'. Is a PC doing something that provokes while next to the enemy? Is a PC moving through, rather than into or away from, the enemy's reach? Is the PC turning his back on the enemy to move away and...

D&D combat without minis - is it possible?

I can't help but think all the cries of "mini-centric" directed at 3E and now Star Wars Saga have something to do with the pictures and diagrams of miniatures in the books. They make a nice visual aid in the book or on the table, but the things they illustrate are completely possible without a...

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

Wow, the last thing I bought from WotC was I guess.. Monster Manual V and two cases of Night Below? That must have been early July 2007. No, WotC has not been relevant to me in several weeks. Since then I've purchased newer third party books, some Reaper miniatures, and totally moved on.

    Dungeon #150

I'm curious about Pathfinder and willing to give it a shot, but man, this marketing machine is coming on a little strong, isn't it? I open the magazine to a random page and it's Pathfinder. I place an order and it's Pathfinder. I visit a message board and it's Pathfinder. I opted to receive...

    Dungeon #150

"As always, Greg thanks those who contributed to the creation of this adventure, including his playtesters, James and the guys at DUNGEON and, of course, all the writers of the Savage Tide Adventure Path for their inspiration and assistance. He'd like to dedicate "Prince of Demons" to his son...
