WotC WotC general D&D survey just went live.

I dedicated the time and filled out all the questions. My most interesting takeaway was they never asked about what other RPGs I play, just what I had bought in the last 3 months. I suspect I'm whizzing in the wind trying to squeeze some complexity into the future of D&D but I'll do my part...

D&D (2024) Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

I don't think I said Kickstarter=Hobby Games so I apologize if it came across that way.

    D&D (2024) Smite Changes

I suggested smite use the item interaction not because I want to force a difficult choice but instead because it's a way to limit it to once a turn and only on your own turn. Using a bonus action would achieve the same limitations, but I feel that's too high an additional cost when its already...

D&D (2024) Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

I have a different view on where boardgames are vis a vis a bubble. We have entered the age where all of the damage COVID did to the industry (by way of higher costs for shipping mostly) is finally starting to arrive. There have been many crowdfunded projects not deliver because of dried up...

D&D (2024) Pulse check on 1D&D excitement level

I'm in a similar boat as @Micah Sweet but perhaps we got there by different methods. I loved 5e when it came out. I ran a 4 year long campaign that some in my gaming group of 20ish years have said it was their favorite. I have a homebrew campaign and setting. I don't use published campaign...

    D&D (2024) Smite Changes

I think the right balance for smite is... Item Interaction: You infuse your weapon with inner power. The next damage roll made using this weapon adds Xd8 radiant damage where X is the level of spell slot you lose when powering the weapon. This infusion is lost at the end of a long rest. 1...

    D&D (2024) Smite Changes

I'm not throwing it out, but it's probably sitting behind the garlic powder, seasoning salt, and dill that gets more attention.

Which board game would you buy, and why?

If you are soliciting ideas for games in general might I suggest Space Base. It's great for gamers and non-gamers. I have played with people 8-80 years old. It's the only game everyone enjoyed. And it's not too expensive.

    D&D (2024) Smite Changes

You may be surprised how many people only vaguely care about the sanctity of "The gameplay Loop".

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

Notice that in the parts of my posts you quoted I never claimed that everyone had to use the red crayon, I just said it should stay in the box for others. But now that I'm being personally mocked for trying to come to an understanding I think I'll bow out of this discussion.

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

The topic is controversial content, not just slavery. I'm trying to discuss the entire idea of controversial content not a single instance of it.

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

I am using metaphors because this topic is about "Controversial Content" not "Slavery". If use a singular concept like slavery as an example, then the discussion is about slavery. If I say controversial content people just ignore that and say slavery. By speaking theoretically I'm discussing...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

You know what, I'm going to go with one last analogy. If we can't be in the same page after this, then it's just not going to happen. A DnD game is a pizza. All the different narrative choices are toppings. This thread is about how we feel about restricting the toppings allowed to be put on...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

Please cite one single time in this thread I have said "you need to have a particular element or the product suffers".

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

On Infinity - 1 You are interprting infinity from an arithmetic point of view. I am viewing infinity from a sets/subsets point of view.a Rather than debate math I think I'll just move on from the infinite stories part of the discussion. On Git Gud GMing Why would you think it's fair or...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

Who gets to decide which pile of things can be treated flippantly and what constitutes flippancy? You seem to have no problem with war and violence (as it has been treated in DnD) however there is a greater likelihood that someone at your table has experienced war or violence than has...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

Please explain I'm missing the logic. Not having a topic available to use is a completely different concept than there not being a limit to the numbers of topics available. (Except I guess a theoretical limit to ones creativity). Let's logic this out. I draw a venn-diagram circle that is...
