Should I allow this magic item (e.g. Is it broken)?

I'll be running "Rumble in the Wizard's Tower" to kick-start my new campaign and there is a seemingly innocent-looking magic item in there : A disk that allows its wearer to cast Cure minor wounds at will. Simply put, this means that the PCs will get back to max HPs at the end of each and every...

WotBS Looking for a good lead-in to WotBS

Hi, Scouring of Gate Pass is a very good but also very tough adventure. I want my PCs to fully live the 1st level stressful moments so I don't feel like pimping them too much before starting. Could anyone suggest a good lead-in to the module? I've been thinking about "Rumble in the Wizard's...

DCC#29 - Which adventures have you ran/played in?

Possible spoilers, I guess. I just bought the PDF version of this 20-adventure compilation, skimmed through each module's introduction and Encounter tables (Very handy when trying to pick one) but I thought I would ask you people if you had a particularly good experience with some of the...

Best Hobby Store in Quebec, Quebec?

Title says it all, my girlfriend is going to a congress this coming Sunday and we will get there the day before to spend some time together in this beautiful city. Problem is, what am I supposed to do when she is actually attending the congress? The answer, I hope, lies in your replies. -Marcon

Is there anything I've missed out?

And who do we see emerging from the waves of chaos following the 4e announcement, proving once again that this very site is the one and only reference any D&D player will ever need? Thanks Morrus, now I can lazily browse one single page to get all the info I need, all because of the tremendous...

    Runebound & Descent. Any good?

Well, let's see... Have you played Milton Bradley's Hero Quest back in the days? Descent is basically Hero Quest on steroids. The main difference is that in HQ, time wasn't a factor and there weren't "surprises" to speak of 99% of the time so the good guys would basically wait until they could...

Don't be a Playtesting Guinea Pig for Wizards

Welcome to the Boards. Oh and by the way, we are already sick of apocalyptic or riot-enticing posts, thanks. -Marco

Nemoren's Vault *Revised* - Anyone has it?

Can you elaborate on the 46 additional pages? Like I said, the web supplement back then was rather small so either there is a lot of new material or they changed the layout in the PDF (Repeating stat blocks since they are no longer on a strict page count, etc.) -Marco

Nemoren's Vault *Revised* - Anyone has it?

Did anyone buy the PDF of Nemoren's Vault Revised? Drivethrurpg says it is 78-page long while the original adventure is only 32-page long. According to the product description, it is supposed to be mostly a conversion of the module. I'm wondering if they integrated the web enhancement they...

    Player Meltdown; Input Requested

Don't wanna derail into a mental illness debate here, but I saw this TV ad some months ago showing a man in bed all covered with bruises and looking like he took a heck of a beating. His ex-wife was yelling madly at him, asking him why he didn't want the children this coming week-end, telling...

    Player Meltdown; Input Requested

Never witnessed such a behavior from an experienced player. Someone in my group once made the mistake of convincing his totally uninterested girlfriend to play in the campaign and she downright froze at the first question I asked her in game. I had these awful memories when you mentionned the...

    Pimp my 1st level characters!

So my group went through 2 or 3 TPKs at a relatively low level (Not high enough so they could get raised and not deep enough into the storyline that they badly wanted to roll new characters and continue the same campaign). I would like to kick off War of the Burning Sky but I got a clear...

Drow marriage (If there has ever been such a thing)

Currently running the Savage Tide Adventure Path. For those of you who know about it, there is a noblewoman in Sasserine who has a fascination with the drow. One of my PCs is actually a Half-Drow and she's all over him (Almost literally ;) ) I have been thinking about her summoning a drow...

"Bad Paper", I'm very interested to know more about this product, since I'm currently thinking about starting either this or the Savage Tide Adventure Path. Post more when you get a chance please! -Marcon

The Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde - Who's right?

Still more confusion, this is from Dragon #350 : "...a low-level companion to Scourge of the Howling Horde... David Noonan says he created this adventure for a DM who wants to get up and running quickly..." I browsed through Scourge of the Howling Horde at my local game store and was extremely...

The Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde - Who's right?

According to Amazon.com, we have a pretty basic follow-up to Scourge of the Howling Horde : 32-page paperback, advice for new DMs, etc. According to the WotC site, it's a "launchpad" for a new campaign, taking characters from Level 1 to 7 and including 2 64-page book, a player's guide, maps...

The Coils of Set - Thoughts?

Did anyone play in/run this? I am kinda reluctant to buy it since I fear it's gonna throw waves after waves of boring reptilian creatures at the PCs. Is it all about snakes, yuan-tis and Fortitude saves or did they manage to vary the encounters? -Marcon

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

That is not necessarily true. Look on page 61 and you'll see that there is a 1-in-4 chance that the way of severing the connection involves killing the hags. The other 3 options are "pacific" (As far as having to kill a blighted relic can be called pacific). -Marcon

Weird, the review shows up in my profile but not on the product's page or the "Latest reviews" page. Does it have to be approved by an admin? -Marcon
